A guy I know is selling his Walther P99 AS 9mm for $550 (USD) and its in excellent shape, the pistol comes with 3 15rd mags, 2 holsters, and all paperwork. Is it a good pistol, im not very familar with Walther products, except Mr. Bond trusts them so they gotta be good right? LOL But I like variety so thats why im interested. Any REAL user feedback would be appreciated, thanks!!!

The guns that you have tell you that you don't really need a walther, Furthermore they are not that great especially the P22 that I had, I won't trust Walther. Anyhow the fit and finish of Walther guns are great, reliable but just not durable.

All I needed to know, I knew there was a reason I wasn't interested in them in the first place. I know the guy is a lil hard up for money so I was thinking about helping him out and at the same time maybe get a good deal. But I think I'll pass.

P99 are not crap but as Trigun said, from what I see on your list too, you may not need this one. On a side note, if your like me, you know that you need always more...:D

The P99 is as good as any Poly gun you will find in my opinion. It is well made, very comfortable to hold and fun to shoot. The AS trigger is nice, I have that trigger in .40. There is honestly nothing I do not like about the gun. With the AS trigger you can decock the gun and you than have a longer, heavier double action trigger pull on the first shot. If you don't decock after you rack the slide you can pull the trigger halfway to the point where you feel a little "click". The trigger is now in the shorter, lighter single action position for the first shot. All the other shots after that are a short, light single action pull.

Was my first pistol, and i fix +/-2000 Walther P99 on a special contract. Yes i'm a gunsmith.
This pistol is a piece of crap

P99 = Crap

Based on what?

Mine has fired around 10000 rounds without cleaning (when I was a full time instructors when we switch from a revolver). The only thing that ever broked on it was a an ejector once. The gun fonctionned perfectly without any kind of cleaning or care. I have partners that have gone well beyond that.

It has been expose to rain, snow, dust, moist, heat and any kind of mistreatment you can imagine. It has been dropped on concrete many time (in high risk simulation). Just a few dings ans scratches that gives him caracter :p!!! It just keep coming back for more bad treatment!!!

The gun is no worst and no better than any other tupperware gun. It does the job. I've never heard that one of my fellow collegue has been in #### because of a failure of his gun. Never happened (I don't say it won't... god knows). I have mine since the past 7 years and it has shot what an usual cop would shoot in 20 careers. No problem at all and, remember, with very very minimal care.

You hear a lot of things on the internet and many are based on rumors or things that people have read. My opinion is based on real stuff that I have lived... and a few other thousands of my partners. ;)

Just my 2 cents. :)

Thats why im asking you guys. I want real feedback from p99 users. I think I'll skip the walther for now I kinda want to get a bretta next anyways. or the new HK45 I saw one at my shop and it looked sweet

I had a P99 QA in .40 S&W in OD green that I really liked. The trigger took a bit to get used to, I had a few unintentional double taps until I got accustomed to it. Other trigger options will obviously vary. It functioned flawlessly for me, and I'd never seen another pistol with such a mirror finish inside the barrel or feed ramp. You mentioned the one you want had full cap magazines, which I`m sure you know are unlawful. Interestingly mine also had accidentally been shipped with full cap magazines. I`d purchased additional magazines for it, and noticed the ones supplied with it were very easy to load the 10th rnds while the spares were difficult to load the 10th. The originals accepted 12 when I tried. I suspect Walther or their importer had someone asleep at the wheel if a more than a few of these got through.

I certainly don't blame you to ask. That was not my point. My point was that many people have an opinion based on other's people opinion or experience or on what they did ear somewhere else. I gave you my personnal experience based on years of operationnal duty. I rely on this pistol and I sleep well at night.

Would it be my personnal first choice? Probably not, but it's not because it's not a good gun. It would only be for a matter of what gun fit my hand better. Also I wouldn't have taken a 9 mm. Would have gone with something that starts with a 4...:D But that's an other story...

No offence ;)

Have had mine for 2 years. Shoots straight and is ergonomic and lightweight.

Don't listen to tool and die guy. Don't ask a mechanic what car to buy, all you will hear is horror stories, buy what you like.
