Help me pimp my 870 MM: From a purist to tacticool, I'm so ashamed.

Well that does it I just bit the bullet and ordered the Mesa/Enidine stock and adapter from Dave's Surplus and Tactical. Unlike the Knoxx that is not being produced/shipped, my Mesa is being shipped today! YAY!

Now I'm just waiting on Tac-Ord to give me the go ahead for the trijicon ghost rings, and Mesa Side saddle and a nice evil black gun kote.

Any opinions on modding the marine mag to add chokes?

Currently it is fixed choke at cylinder. Perfect for slugs, but would the versatility of screw in chokes be worth it? Any opinions?

Any opinions on the breaching attachments from tac-ord? Either muzzle or magazine mounted?

This is my basic set-up I love the Knoxx stock It really helps when using 3.5 magnum shells. It can be had from the Shooting edge for a good price.

I have tried a knoxx stock but it sat so low on my shoulder I could not even align the sights, did you have this same problem?

For HD, a breaching attachment is only for looks and show. Why in the world would you want to shoot off you own door handles? It's bad enough to be shooting holes in the walls, who need to replace door too.

A flash suppressor on the other hand does have a theory behind it for HD that it will help to hide your location from the bad guy in the event of a firefight in your livingroom.

They both have their places, realistically, for joe blow home owner I would consider them a tool for the mallninja to play with.

Amything beyond a stock shotty is mall ninja. I'm all about the mall ninja now. I am ashamed of it, but I still am. Of course it is for show, except for when the range changes keys every January and I need access to the clubhouse to take a dump! :D

OK so the Mesa M4 stock with Enidine recoil reducer is installed. Looks great and feel like pretty good kit. I love the hogue grips and I love the longer length of pull. I'm 6'1" with arms long enough to drag my knuckles on the ground when I walk. The whole thing installed super easy.

HOWEVER, I do not like the butt pad that comes with it as it is wide with sharp edges. It digs uncomfortably into my shoulder pocket when I pull back hard enough to compress the enidine recoil reducer.

What I wish I could do is install my R3 but pad onto the back of the M4 stock. Any suggestions? Any good recoil pad that installs onto the M4 stock?

Right now, I'm hoping for some good suggestions because, as it stands, I'll be looking at fabricating an adapter for my stock. This WILL be a bubba attempt as I am no handier than your average software salesman /geography teacher guy. This could be o.k. or it could end badly and in tears with blood shed.

Help?

Ok so here is an update w/ pics. I've just started as the Hogue fore end is being delivered as we speak should be in by the end of the week. Also I can't send the gun to Tac Ord until Feb 1st as he is a little busy right now.

This photo shows you the difference between the LOP of the original plastic stock and the Mesa stock kit. I figure if I add on the but pad, it is still shorter than the old stock by about the length of the but pad.

Here you can see where I'm thinking about bubba'ing the stock adapter to add the R3 recoil pad. The flat part just above the sling adapter and just below the tube is space on both sides of the back of the stock where I can maybe mount some screws. I don't want to screw directly through the stock into teh recoil pad, as if I butchered this, I would be wrecking two pieces.

I think I might build a wood/plastic/metal adapter that the R3 pad can screw into normally, and then screw the adapter using 4 screws/bolts that go from the flat part at the back of the stock and then into the adapter. The adapter only needs to be thick enough to accept the R3 screws. Maybe .5" tops.

Any better ideas?

I should also add that the view with the new cheek weld is higher than with the original stock. Not by much, but just enough to make a bead inappropriate. I do however believe that the ghost rings I plan on putting on should be at just about right height.
