I think you have a good idea and a good price. The bulk of the work is convincing the people that they are benefiting from it. I was sort of on the fence when I saw the "features" but when you mentioned the benefits, i.e. cost saving, I opened up more. Also, if you explain the benefits of the individual features it would make it more appealing. It's good for those who don't want to build rifles themselves.

About the no, answer on the poll. It was just a joke, not really something I would fuss about.

How about offering this as a service for people who already own the rifle? Personally I wouldn't mind sending you my rifle to have a mount fitted and the carrier modified!

That has me interested. I had a SKS-D a few years back and it was a fun gun, not exceptionally accurate but fun to play with. I wish I still had it as I am not really impressed with the current Chinese models that seem to be selling for over $200 these days.

A friend and I have been looking for a non-restricted rifle to shoot cheap milsurp 5.56 or 7.62 ammo. Something that we can dress up with budget accessories on a picatinny rail system enough to frighten liberals when they see it. A couple 30-5 pinned magazines for looks as well as a few 5 round mags would need to be in the deal.

To be honest I have not really looked at the VZ58 to much, my only wonder is if it would be accurate enough to keep me interested. The scope mounting system type would be important. A true measure of accuracy would be hard to measure if it is like the SKS systems due to the way they attach.

But I will certainly follow this idea.

Yep we can do this for you, we're getting ramped up for this in the next few weeks.

Here is a brake down of pricing for each item if you were to do it piece meal:

1. Carrier - $50 (this is the only true mod that I know of that will address the issue)
2. Crome lined bore - you would have to find one for sale.
3. furniture - ~$315
4. Strip and recoat the rifle. ~$100
5. Scope mount $125 plus mounting.
6. Muzzle brake - ~$70
7. Rear sight ~$65
8. Trigger job ~$50

That is ~$600+ in modifications plus $650 for the rifle. $1000+/-Seems like a fair deal to me.

Here is my breakdown:
1. Carrier - $.10 for the mount of welding wire I would use and a piece of scrap 12 gauge sheet steel.
2. Crome lined bore - VZ58S's already have chrome bores.
3. furniture - $60 for the czech folding stock, the factory front wood is adequate.
4. Strip and recoat the rifle. $0 - what's wrong with the grey epoxy paint?
5. Scope mount $0 because if I wanted to shoot laser beams, I'd bring my Swiss Arms Classic Green, not a leadslinger like a VZ58.
6. Muzzle brake - $0. C'mon now - really - do you NEED a muzzle break for 7.62x39???
7. Rear sight ~$0 - the stock sights work great for 100 yards.
8. Trigger job ~$0 - I can probably stone the sear just as well as anyone.

Total cost: $60.10, or just $.10 if I forego the folding stock ;)

well this obviously isn't for you then, but many others may like the idea
1. most folks don't have the skill or tools to weld shape and heat treat the tab for carrier
2. I see a lot of people looking for vz58l rifles and none for sale
3. I see a lot of these rifles with modernized furniture
4. I agree with you on this one
5. vz58's can be very accurate with a scope the limiting factor is usually the ammo people put in it.
6. Yeah but they look cool
7. a peep sight is superior at any range
8. yes you probably could but can Bob or Joe?

The brake sure is nice for 3 gun and it modulates the "cheek slap" recoil impulse.

The sights are good for much more than 100m. I was making hits on the ram at 500m with mine.

Yea thats great, thanks for your useless input. Good luck in just welding a piece of soft steel to your hardened bolt carrier. Our service will not leave you with a dangerous solution to a harmless problem. I guess our countless hours of investment and thousands of dollars in equipment and R&D mean nothing right? I guess people in Canada would be better off if nobody cared about this market. Nobody said you had to buy one. Thanks again for your input.

Point of clarity: This package would include the non restriced crome lined barrel not the standard restricted barrel.
