Frontier update:

SKS Update - Jan 13, 2009

The shipping out of the rifles has been delayed to mid week, and all approved orders will be out by Monday Jan 19th. The last and final order of rifles is scheduled to arrive Wednesday Jan 21st.

So there are some here in town and I am trying to decide if I want to wait on the Frontier ones or get one now. My own hand select. This really sucks. I put aside one that has 1950 on the top and another from 1954. I have a few days to secide. Argh, I hate decisions.

Heck Val,get em all!! You can always thin out the herd later when they're worth more.

WTF So the original dealers Frontier & SIR still have not started shipping .Yet other dealers have them in stock & been selling for over a week now ????????
AT HIGHER PRICES naturally . How the hell did that happen ????
I wonder what condition SIR & Frontiers are going to be compared to the ones already being sold ?

I know, this is awful. The one I put away is a Tula, I believe, 1950, non-laminated stock. I've gone through so many today my brain is garbled. But I can't remember if the refurb mark is on it. Aaaaah! The stock is pretty good, just a few wee dings. Aaaaaah!!

Argh, I have to go, I will be back in a bit. I am expecting some good advice to be on here. lol.:p;) Please....

Alright.. if they're selling for around the same Frontier is, you might as well buy the ones from Chilliwack. If they cost a lot more than at Frontier, don't buy it.
If they cost just a little more... just wait it out, Frontier's order's gonna be here soon. I had to decide if I wanted to wait for my SIR order to come in, but decided not to. I don't think SIR will get theirs for quite a while longer. All I need now is ammo... if anybody here knows where I can buy some surplus crates for less than 190.. let me know.

Well here is two things to consider. The 1950 will probably have a spring loaded firing pin (thats a good thing) but it may also NOT be chrome lined. I have a 1950 so the info I am giving you is based on mine.

I wish mine came with a spring loaded firing pin... I'm thinking of changing out the one I have in my unissued.

A firing pin with a return spring is a nice feature, and was only available from 1949 mid 1951. Like I said, its nice, but not really necessary. Just keep your firing pin nice and clean and dry, so it rattles when you shake the bolt body, and you will never have a problem.
