I got my GP6 from Freedom ventures yesterday. So far the gun seems good. Fit and finish are nice, and also the grease it came in wasn't super filthy and hard to clean off.

The bbl is nice and fat, the D/A trigger pull is long, but very smooth. The S/A is fairly short, also very light and smooth. The inside of the slide is very smooth and well machined. The Rotating barrel is very nice, moves smoothly, and locks tight

I posted a pic of the mag hole. You can appearantly cut the same hole in a CZ magazine and it will work, according to a post by the designer about a year ago.

*Update* I let some gun oil sit on on the mag catch related part for a good 20 minutes and that helped a bit. I was doing this on empty mags. I noticed the follower was hitting the slide stop sometimes on an empty mag and causing it not to fully seat all the time. I loaded up the mags (they were dummy rounds and the slide was off, I did that just for all you safety nazis out there) and the mags seat fine everytime now. I did 40 mag inserts and releases using both the left and right side of the mag release button. So everything with it works fine.

One thing I have a problem with now is the mag release. It gets stuck on about 1 or 2 out of every 10 or so presses. What happens is the mag will come out no problem, but the next time I insert it, it will not always "click" into place.

until I re-seat it, or press the button and re-seat it. I have field stripped and cleaned the pistol, also I have sprayed oil onto the magazine catch and springs. I have tried spraying oil on both sides of the mag release button and working both sides of it (all controls are ambi).

Field stripping is a little weird the first time, but after that it is very easy and very quick. I find the controls easy to operate and reach as well.
Overall I am very interested in getting this to the range. Is is a very smooth and robust pistol. Feels great in the hand too.

Here are the pics. (the orange crap on the inside of the slide is grease. I cleaned the gun after these pics).

With a small thin screwdriver, gently hyperextend the slide catch and remove the mag catch button by pressing it in from either side. Make sure there are no burrs or gouge marks on the part or in the support tube.

I use a small dab of gear greese on the flat center section of the mag catch for lubrication. A little dab will do you.

I ordered the big mag release button, and like it much better than the smaller version.

This is my second Grand Power product. The origional was fine, but this new model addresses a few minor concerns with the origional.

Nice pics!

Reading that, I wonder...have you read the owner's manual?

Front sight

Is that front sight plastic, like the original K-100s? I have one of the originals from Marstar, and that was a real PITA! After two broke, I had a machinist apprentice fab one out of tool steel. Otherwise they cost about $14 each if Marstar still has them.

How does the safety lever feel on the GP6?

I've shot a GP-K100 and liked it, but the safety engagement was a little mushy. I'd prefer a positive feeling safety or none at all (decock only).

Interesting. My first was a K100 and I believe it has a metal front sight.

The safety snick and snaps into both positions.

And, yes, it is a little mushy.

STI has just announced that they will be offering a competition version of the GP6. One of it's features is an improved thumb safety lever.
