I am trying to identify this rifle. It is very much like the czech vz-24 execpt there are some differences. There is an upper wood cover infront of the back sight. Also there is no release on the bottom of the magazine. The whole trigger guard and magazine cover are one piece. It is very well marked as 7.62 and was made in CESKOSLCVENSKA ZROJOVKA, A.S., BRNO which is stamped on the side of the breech.

I can't find any other markings on the gun that are legible but as you can see on the top there is a stylized lion or eagle.

Pictures where taken at a good resolution so you should be able to zoom in. And yes, I know, it needs a lot of TLC.

Left Side
Right Side
breech
Sights

Thank you for any help.

It was originally a German 8mm Mauser and rebarrelled to 7.62x51 by Israel. The bolt probably doesn't match but the headspace should be fine. The crest is a Czechoslovakian Rampant Lion. The large trigger guard is called a winter trigger guard to make it easier to shoot with gloves on. They are very strong and accurate rifles,I had no problem shooting 7.62x51 military ammo or .308 handloads as well as commercial .308 Winchester ammo in the many "Izzies" I have had. Take it to a gunsmith and have it checked out first and then go to the range and enjoy a unique piece of history.

Thanks for the help. The number on that is stamped on the bolt does infact match the one to the left of the Lion emblem so they do seem to be matched.
