8 Gauge side by side shotgun.

Kinda rolls off the tongue, doesn't it? It's another one of those things we can have that the americans can't. Well..... Americans can own them, just can't hunt with them. We can. That's not why I'd want it though, I don't hunt, I just love guns.:pirate:

Winchester still makes the ammo for the kiln guns.

You can also get brass hulls that can be reloaded hundreds of times.

You can still buy hulls and wads for a reasonable price

And you can get adaptors to shoot cheapo twelve gauge shells out of them. A roll crimper to reload hulls with a handheld drill would be pretty cheap to make up on a lathe, it's just the same as the 12 gauge but bigger.

All we need now is an affordable chinese 8 gauge shotgun proofed for nitro loads. Canam? You've been real good to me, can you make my dreams come true?

Bobby great Idea!!!! I would buy one in a second, totaly unpractical but who gives a F@##CK I would even shoot some skeet with it, How many onces of #9 shot could I load in a 8 gauge anyway???

has anyone seen the movie Appolossa (hope I got that right), me likes if its anything like that one, but I would have to get a nifty sport jacket with a patch over the shoulder, how much would you think a tailor would charge to put a leather patch on your shoulder/chest?

I would vote for a Norchinko knock off of the Perazzi TM1 for about $299.00. Then when the parts crap out you could replace them with Perazzi parts and in a short time you would have a TM1 on the installment plan.

Thats no good though. You wouldn't be able to shoot both barrels at the same time.

I think I read somewhere that kiln gun shells are unsuitable for shoulder fired weapons? A several ounce slug at 2000 fps or so? I could be right out to lunch here.

PS I'd buy one if buckshot were available :)

Turkeys would be out with an 8 ga in Ontario. I don't see anything in the federal regs against hunting waterfowl with them.

Wouldn't be of much use unless the barrel could be used with steel shot. Well unless you like loading a 1/4 pound or more of bismuth per shot ;)

Bobby, if you haven't read it already, check out "The Gun and its Development" by W.W. Greener. Its got lots of info on 8 and 4 bore guns and makes for an entertaining read of shooter's opinions in the 19th century.
