Exemptions Gone

Just shoot them off in USPSA matches, they allow all kinds of cool stuff!
Just imagine, matches where you can use long mags, put your gear where you want it AND get to shoot the old targets...I'll be shooting lots of US stuff this year!
Not to mention Singlestack class!

Thats where I do the majority of my shooting anyway:D

Why not start a Single Stack Division and shoot it along side your regular club/qualifier/provincial match? That way everyone gets to play. The boys who shoot in the US get to practice their SS division. The boys with singles stack guns who are never going overseas anyway don't care and the guys that do are uneffected. Seems pretty simple to me.

I might even take the dust off my 1911 SS gun.

Take Care

yeah give that repara ord a work out....

After shooting IPSC for 24 years, why can these dolts that don't like the rules just go play with themselves. When someone does not like a rule just ignore it or change it. In Canada we are supposed to play by the IPSC rules, they are published and used the world over except for the USPSA and Canada? You can argue the USPSA rules that do not conform to the world and they make little sense, most are driven by the gun companies and after market suppliers, do virtually anything you want to a production gun on the inside but careful about the holster you use. If Canada had the balls in the beginning to go with the world rules we would all have 126mm mags in standard. Exceptions only get you into trouble when you travel to the big world out there. USPSA started the problem by not wanting to comply to the rules and Canada the sheep followed suit in some areas. Anyone wanting Canada to join the USPSA opens a whole other can of worms, the USPSA is not perfect The whole point of the rules is safety and a level playing field for all, exemptions will only cause trouble down the line as noted in this thread.

I really don't see why this got slammed! (Except the "dolts" line, I guess)
A world under one rule-set would be awesome... unfortunately exemptions were granted in the past!

It was slammed for a few reasons
  1. 'Dolts'
  2. USPSA rules aren't driven by gun companies
  3. Relatively few Canadian shooters travel to 'the big world out there' as compared to the number that travel to shoot in the U.S. on a regular basis. (See you in Michigan this summer?;))
  4. It has nothing to do with Canada 'having balls'
  5. Shorter mags does not promote safety.
  6. The sheep follow Vince Pinto not Mike Voigt.

:canadaFlag:it's simple , everyone just use's the one stock mag that came with the gun. a back pocket full of bullets and a very fast reload and away you go again!
it might be the longest match ever but look at the money we saved.
a single mag match? Hmmmm. might work

As soon as you can get back to me with news that Canada now shares Magazine capacity laws with the rest of the world then one rulebook makes sense.

Yikes - the EE is full of standard guns.

:(

There is only one new one listed that sold. The rest have been up for sale and back down before. I've listed mine a couple of times in the past. The mag change has nothing to do with it being for sale, ask anyone I shoot with, I rent guns and then feel obligated to share them with others. :D

Sean:

Whats not clear in this thread, is the stated reasons why the exemptions where denied.. the thread on GV said that they will not give the reasons out publicly, and they said to communicate with you for the reason..

so the question is.. what reasons where given for the denial??

In a "perfect Canada"... with regular capacity laws... we would be more pissed off about losing the 2-3 round capacity that losing this exemption would cause.

Unfortunately losing this exemption has zero effect on our capacity here in Canada today.

Maybe I am missing something...

IPSC allows the USPSA to run matches under there own rules while still considering them a region. So why don't we do the same, our rules would be identical to IPSC but we just ignore the mag and bullet weight rules.

I think this is a great idea.:D

I Have followed the thread in IGV and that Vince guy is a funny one:rolleyes:. The thing I do not understand is if the pres. of IROA is in Canada and the pres. of IPSC is also in Canada, could they not be more understanding to our situation?
Or do they realy want us to quit IPSC and drive us into the arms of the USPSA.
WTF is wrong with these two. :puke:

In fairness, they have to look out for all the countries, not just the one they are from.

and if they where acting fair, they would give you notice that it would not be renewed with ample time for shooters to get ready (eg 2 years)

springing it on us last minute is not being fair.

in defence of IPSC, they did not "spring" this on us. anyone who knew the rules and knew about the exemption, knew that they expired December 31, 2008 with the old rule book. The surprise was that they did not renew them with the new rule book.
