Russian SKS45 long thread.

If you want to come out and pay for a dish installation for me, be my guest :D

Otherwise I have to put up with (yes I know) 19200bps

w00t, 26400bps here.

DHL driver asked what was in the crate (like they always do) and I played dumb (like I always do) ... "I don't know... but it sure looks Heavy!"

Guns... do you want to go shooting with me?

They'll never ask again. Or they'll go shooting.
Win-Win

Have a crate of ammo sitting downstairs at the office now (came DHL), and from the sounds of it rifles are coming Canada Post (he usually comes around 11:15) so we will see if it gets here today!

Might have to go get one from Milarm as well.....

Still waiting on SIR

The door bell rang. I was wondering if that was my neighbour. Turned out to be Canada Post guy who was holding a gun-like package with a funny smile in his face. I was like...wow...that was surprising!

Open up the package, that was a 1953 tula. All numbers 'naturally' matched, no sign of forced match, including the stock. Not sure if that was refurb if anyone could educate me on that. The ammo pouch was a pleasant surprise too. I like the bayo more than Chinese ones. Quickly wrapped the ####e up again and sealed it with duct tape. Looked around before I buried the ####e in the pre-dug hole in the backyard...kiddin :D

That was a nice piece of ####e. Waiting till I have time to know her better.

DHL just called. I've got a package waiting for pickup on the way home, and I'm assuming it's my crate of ammunition shaped metal parts.

Now, if my local Canada Post worker has gained the ability to read addresses I might have another box too.. some metal and wood furniture in the shape of a rifle.

So close!

Some music to go with the lyrics from Post 3000 - you can play it in the background while you're opening the package!

I'm tearing up just listening to it... <sniff>

The lyrics I posted are actually the CCCP (USSR) anthem lyrics given the state of the union at the time in 1950s, so I added the corresponding mp3:

Got my hand-picked rifle today. It appears to be a Tula 55/56 no date, but the stock has a date of 1950 and the hand guard is laminated. I am guessing that the stock and hand guard were replaced when it was refurbished. Has a <> mark on the action cover indictating refurbishment. Cleaned a bit of powder residue and a lot of copper from inside the gas block. Barrel was clean and in VG-EXC shape. It came with an ammo pouch, two stripper clips, a sling, a cleaning kit and a holder for an oil bottle. No oil bottle was included. The shellac is coming off the stock, which is no big deal as this rifle will be restocked with a Polish laminated stock set and used as a shooter. Now I just have to find a non-refurbished rifle.
