Non-reburb bud - no paint anywhere and a golden bayo!Good going, Dave!
Is your bolt carrier chromed or blackened?

I'm pretty sure the 1954 Tula I picked up is non-refurb. All the # match, including stock, nothing has been force matched and I can't find any refurb markings. Bolt and carrier are silver and the bore is clean and shiny. Took her to the range today and put 120rds through it without a single hiccup. Needless to say I am quite pleased with it.
But how were the groups, Man?
I sighted it in at 50 yds. Shot 6" high and about 3" to the left. 5 shot group was about 4" but I wasn't really trying, I was too eager to put rounds through it to really concentrate.
Then I blasted some water-filled 4L milk jugs offhand just for $hits and giggles, and the rifle seemed accurate enough.
Next I cranked the rear sight up to the 200m mark to see how close it was. I aimed for the steel gong at 200yds and pulled the trigger. Gong! I probably averaged 80% accuracy at 200 - 250yds on various targets.
I doubt this rifle will win any accuracy contests, but it sure is fun to shoot!
I'm wondering if it's wood stain, or just the effects of long-term storage in cosmo? What exactly IS the gold color on the blade? Is it just preservative oil that has congealed on it?
Heres mine, All 1954
