All I can say is, "INCREDIBLE". My shooting buddy Druker guffawed when he found out I had purchased a Hi-Point. Well, he ain't laughing as much now. And he owns Sigs, Springfields and Paras, so it's not like he doesn't know the difference.
Condensed version; Shot nine rounds at the cardboard backdrop just to make sure it wasn't gonna blow up in my face.
Fired five rounds to sight the gun in (All my guns shoot left of aim out of the box. I know it's me, whatcha gonna do...?). One turn on the rear sight screw and bang on.
At 10 yrds, 2" group with a called flyer
At 15 yrds, 3" group
At 23-24 yrds (no one at VSP can confirm exactly what it is LOLOL), 5" group.
This pistol shoots better than I can. The trigger has quite a bit of creep and prolly lets off at around 5-7 lbs. My buddy stated that the sights were "pretty good, considering".
Using American Eagle 230 ball, I didn't have one FTF or FTE in 130+ rounds
The mag was easy to load and unlike the other gentleman who stated he was slicing his fingers while reloading, I had no such issue. The blueing finish on the mag, however, was practically non-existant.
The safety is abominal. Almost impossible to use with your shooting thumb. This is one of my first mod projects.
The lack of a slide release is a pain. And yes, I am being a baby LOL
The pistol is heavy, though not necessarily THAT much heavier, if at all, than my HK45USP.
Recoil, quite honestly, is not bad at all. Shooting American Eagle 230gr, I believe recoil was on par with my 1911.
The grip could be a bit more comfortable, though it is a big gun and I have smallish hands. As well, I've got a mild case of tendonitis, that can't be helping much....
There was a shooter in the next stall who made me repeat the $262.00 sale price of the Hi-Point at least 3 times.
All in all, I can honestly say that I have never gotten so much bang for the buck, pardon the pun. BASED ON MY INITIAL EXPERIENCE, If you wanna buy your 1st pistol and are tight for funds, you cannot go wrong with this puppy.
Three thumbs up
