The ultimate front sight solution...for the cost of a case of beer.

Very NICCCEEE!!!
wherever did you find that beautiful folder.
[;{)

PS: not to take away from the wonderfulness [ I'm not really jealous just because i din't think of it first ... really ... not ] of recycling the original FH, but I have NOT had good luck doing this conversion.
1.] The FH may be harder than the tap
2.] some of the norc FH simply are NOT SQUARE at the Front sight base, which no amount of twisting/rotating can correct..
3.] with the 1/2X28 TPI thread at the muzzle, any AR 15 [ with a .30 cal hole ] flashider or muzzle brake can be used. I prefer a muzzle brake on my shorties, which actually does some real world good, rather than a FH. At the last 14 group grope, I asked ...."why would any CIVILIAN put a F/H on their CIVILIAN rilfe. The answer was "to eliminate flash".

The next question was, zombie movies and video games, notwithstanding, how many really need this feature .... aka ... "hands up everyone who has actually participated on a "two way range". No hands came up, even though most of the rifles at the seminar did have FHs.

But I guess, "looks Cool" is a good enough reason in any case.
And the crenallated shorty setup shown above certain does qualify as verrrry cool looking.

PS .... in theory, the front sight should be a little too SHORT ... which is why my original instructions discussed grinding some off the back of the rea sight leg, to allow it to drop down enough to zero @ 100 yds. Unfortunately, lowering the rear sight a tiny bit can make the stock /cheek interface rather uncomfortable

Yeah that's your folder design all right! I can't remember if I credited you or not but if not, yeah, that's not my design, that's Laz's!

I get where you are coming from for sure on the FS...it should be too short. But for some reason this has not been a big problem, and I don't know why.

I have not had to grind down any rear sights yet. I am not sure why this is but so far I have not had trouble getting a 100m zero. I can't explain this. Maybe the FS was a little short to begin with! I don't know.

I have also heard a few "harder than the tap" stories and I don't doubt this is sometimes true. I haven't had a problem yet drilling any of mine with regular HSS bits but that could well be a luck-of-the-draw issue.

As far as straight bases...yeah, I've seen a couple of doozies for sure. On that hole-puncher model the sight base was machined at like ten degrees! Fortunately I found a front sight made the next morning, when old Wing was hungover the same amount, in the other direction.

Muzzle brakes...also cool gear!

As far as needing flash hiders...hell I don't even need guns!

I just want them, in case of zombies.
