Wow! Someone at DMFirearms shipped out a bunch of incorrect stocks!!! I think that makes 4 of us that have posted here... Glad to hear your stock made it in record time Stig, and that they got it right the 2nd time... Did they credit your credit card the amount it cost you to return ship the garand stock to them? That's what they promised me... (I have not got my replacement stock yet or seen the credit appear on my card...)

Cheers

Well, they was very nice on the phone and shipped the right stock for free. I told them that a friend of mine wanted to buy the Garand stock. So we agreed to that I should call them when I received the M1A stock and then talk about the payment.

They trusted me and I will pay that money...of course.

They did wrong in the first place but cleared things up nice and fast. A relaible company, indeed :D

I got my replacement Boyd's Pepper Laminate. Nice stock! I also sent an email to DMFirearms asking if they received the M1 Garand stock back & where my refund for shipping was? I'll keep you guys in the loop.

I'm REALLY looking forward to bedding my two M14S rifles at the VKH clinic!!!

Cheers
Jay

I noticed these laminte stock does not come with stock liner, is stock liner required?

What is a stock liner anyway?

Can I get away without it after glass bedding it?

Sorry for the little highjack.

hehehe thanx to networking super powers of us m14 luvvers her on CGN .... :dancingbanana:

I ordered up a camo laminate blank from wenigs, just a chunk 'o' wood in a stockish shape. when it arrives it will be a long term project i think :D , got build one of them mini duplicators and copy one of my fiberglass custom stock patterns onto the blank.... when i do it, I'll make a progress report. This won't be a project with hopes of making more.... i'm only gonna make one wood stock..... for me.

there's a dealer, Boss Hogg i think..... he was talking about firing up a duplicator in the spring i think....... someone should buy 50 blanks...... ship them to hogg.... with a prototype copy of an NM usgi walnut and handguard...... and like magic.... we have a canadian source of ready to be finished m14 stocks........ you guys feelin what i'm throwin down....... :D

I have two currently "in foreign customs". Can anyone tell me how long theirs sat in customs for? Mine have been there for a week so far.

Neither of mine got stuck in customs on either side of the border... So yours is stuck in US customs? Maybe they think it's an M14 stock, that would be a no-go for export... I just checked the box that mine shipped in, it's clearly marked M1A on the end of the box and has no reference to M14... The box itself is easy enough to "see" it's gun related...

Well Well,

Finaly received the thing after 2 weeks. Super nice :p

Now I must figure how to take the old stock off...Gone read all the nice instructions and the new video posted here on CGN:popCorn:

Edited...

With the help of the video it went without a glitch. Just needed minor filing on the handguard so the bolt could slide smoothly. It is not the same gun anymore !

Super nice will post some pics soon !

Here's a picture:

It was shipped via United States Post Office, out of Arizona, so foreign customs was Canadian. It stayed in Canadian Customs for a week, and I picked them up from my local post office Thursday. They cost me $37 in duty and the box had a doument envelope attached indicating that ithad been inspected and the action taken was "package opened".

** EDIT** - The box was clearly labeled "Boyd's GUN Stocks" and the export document said "GUN PARTS". However all references to part numbers both on the packing slip, invoice and box, stated M1A1 stock and handguard.

Regardless, these are two Boyds Walnut stocks M1A1 configuration, fully finished. They are beautiful. a little darker than I would have hoped. but its OK, because I almost can't take the rifles to the range with this furniture on it. I won't want to get it wet or scratch it, or even rub the finish, they are that nice. I will post pics if I can dig up a camera.

When I ordered from DM, I thought I was getting the version that I would have to fit and bed myself. Instead, what showed up are pre-drilled and fitted for a usgi stock-liner. I just need to figure out how what tool it will take to remove the screws from my norc stock to pilfer the stock-liner from it.

Anyone know?

I've been told that a couple of finishing nails, spaced at the appropriate distance, held in a set of vise grips works .......

But I found an old C7 sight adjustment tool in my junk box that fit those screw perfect !
