Ok. So finally its done.
My first rifle stock build.

It feels like I brought a breath of new life into my old .22
The rifle is an old cooy 64b.

There is nothing wrong with its stock but I just felt like I could have done something a bit more and to give it the respect it deserves.
A small improvement that I have made in the new stock is that the mag is streamlined with the stock.
I used to get it snagged on twigs in the past when I was out in the bush and now hopefully that won’t happen.
I also think it looks a bit more streamlined and nicer.

The wood is macawood I got from a friend.

And the finish it tung oil.

It actually looks better in life that it does in these pictures.
Im sorry, some of these pictures didn’t come out as well as I would have liked them too.

Ill be out at the range on Saturday to try out the long awaited for new stock and see how it performs at the range.
I feel like a kid, just waiting to try the new toy.

ill try to post up the pictures.

Cooey Project

Lots of work. I agree with Winnipeg Toymaker, you need a larger scope or a different sighting system for balence.

I wonder how it might have looked if it had a bullpup stock.
The only problem would be the mechanics of the trigger group.

range report

Range report and update on the new stock.

Well after all the anticipation I finally got to the range and I wasn’t exactly sure what to expect from the little rifle with the new stock.
After I saw the first group I rubbed my eyes and started to get this stupid grin on my face that stayed on for the entire day.
The end result speaks for itself. I couldn’t believe how accurate this little rifle became.

It used to group ok ish about 1moa at 30M but now with the new stock and bedding …. wooo hooo,

thy cooy is back for me .. big time... sure turned some heads at the range.
I couldn’t be happier with the end result.
Cheers.

Nice job on the stock. I don't like thumbholes, but you did a good job.

But your accuracy did improve with the new stock? That's what you want.
