Ok. So finally its done.
My first rifle stock build.
It feels like I brought a breath of new life into my old .22
The rifle is an old cooy 64b.
There is nothing wrong with its stock but I just felt like I could have done something a bit more and to give it the respect it deserves.
A small improvement that I have made in the new stock is that the mag is streamlined with the stock.
I used to get it snagged on twigs in the past when I was out in the bush and now hopefully that won’t happen.
I also think it looks a bit more streamlined and nicer.
The wood is macawood I got from a friend.
And the finish it tung oil.
It actually looks better in life that it does in these pictures.
Im sorry, some of these pictures didn’t come out as well as I would have liked them too.
Ill be out at the range on Saturday to try out the long awaited for new stock and see how it performs at the range.
I feel like a kid, just waiting to try the new toy.
ill try to post up the pictures.
here is the orig' stock.
here is the cut out for the new stock
cutting out the chanel
cutting out the triger and thumbhole and alot alot alot of rough sanding
more sanding and marking high spots in chanel, working on triger and recever area, bedding etc'.
after alot of sanding and staining and fitting a butplate
