The Mighty 375 Ruger gets a Facelift!

Sure looks good Gatehouse....
am as jealous as hell!
Being a Elmer fan, and most my friends know it, thought I would be the first on "our block" to own one. Boy am I an ass! E.M.K. probably rolled over in his grave when I bought a 300RUM.
My Husky 9.3 x 62 will have to suffice for now.

Looking forward to 'GROUP' pics when Guntech has worked his magic on it!

Later....

My real question is, if I bought one, could I go sheep hunting in grizzly country?
Don't start talking crazy here, now! It is a 375 Ruger, it doesn't say "Ultra" or "magnum" in the name anywhere. :D

too bad they don't put the whole barrel on those....there must be a few inches on the floor somewhere at Ruger.....

HAHA. You must not know that the .375R is so advanced that it really doesn't even need a barrel past the chamber. Ruger put some barrel on it so it will fit in with all the other 'regular' firearms. It is reverse ##### envy. Haha mines shorter than yours......

Nice looking sawed off little runt!

Supposedly the marbled finish stands up a lot better than the standard McMillan paint.
Can you send an old stock to McMillan and have it "marbleized"?

I had the 1.5-5 on my 340Wby for ten years before I ran into a (hunting) magnification problem. I replaced it with a 3.5-10 after trying to thread a bullet between branches at a 250 Yard elk.....If my eyes were better (younger) I would have left the 1-5x on....It is a great hunting scope.

Looks good. I have McSwirly on my M70 7mm Rem mag at the moment and have two other McMillan in camo patern on order, should get them in May. One for my Ruger .35 Whelen and one for my .22-250 LVSF.

I've never been too hot on the McSwirlys and you coudl say I am still not a huge fan, but it's okay. Better than the other Macmillans I've had which are all black. I've got enough black stocks in my safe...:p

If I ever find some black webbing paint again, I'll probably hit it with it.

Very nice Gate, light years better than the factory. My 375 is fitted with a 1.5 x 5 Leupold. I think its perfect even with the buggy whip 22"er.

Did you order the mcswirley form Rick off the campfire?

How much was the stock out of curiosity delivered to BC?

Nice gun I'm sure it would kill an Eland...grin

Gate: Did yours have the Hogue originally? Phil Shoemaker recently wrote about abominations. He couldn't have been more correct. Obviously, you are becoming a shooter of distinction ( except for the fact that 375 H&H is the real King and anything else is a supposer and wannabe).

Cheers.

Paint is paint. The marble is in the gel-coat, which is tough as hell...

Info here on it...

Last I checked Rick would repaint stocks (any stocks) for $100 or thereabouts. I'm no fan of the McSwirly (there's a real cult of aficionados over at the 'fire) but you're looks pretty decent. I wouldn't screw with it.

Yes, it had the Hogue originally, and if you search my early posts on it you will see I was not a fan. The Hogue stock is real nice form the bench, no accuracy issues, but it's not my idea of a hunting stock. I agree with Phil's assesment, although I don't agree with his solution of a tupperware stock. Don't like them much either...:)

I dont' need anyone to repaint my stock, I had a scholarship to Emily Carr, so I can take care of it myself.;)

However, like many McSwirlys, they are pretty smooth and a bot of grip via webbing paint woudl be nice. ALso, I should have ordered 80& tan, 10% black and 10% white for more cool look...Still, I am fine with it. On a firearm like this, form trumps function 100%

If you don't want too much swirl definitely go higher with the base colour. Here's mine with 70% black, 20% olive, 10% light grey and it's still pretty swirly.

I picked up and fondled the rifle this AM before work...

I'm still not sold on the cosmetic value of ANY McSwirly, but damn it feels good.

Once again The New King of the .375's impressed me.;)
