We've all be reading about the madness in the US which has prompted huge volumes of firearm sales, particularly AR's and other black rifles. With the possibility of export difficulties, what is the likelihood of AR's becoming rare (and thus expensive) in Canada?

I'm just wondering what the AR market is going to be like 2 years from now and whether its imperative to buy now...

Any thoughts?

have you seen the prices on high end uppers and lowers of ARs like LMT ??? they've already started creeping upward over the past year.. especially the desirable ones like 10.5" and 14.5"

I've noticed that trend. Everyone and their dog seems to be getting in some sort of AR at reasonable prices (~$1500) though. Which leads me to question the impending shortage that everyone (including me) is fearing.

I think the buying frenzy down south has a lot to do with the election of BHO; what does it mean to us Canadians ? I think that we may face higher costs for parts/ firearms as a result of increased permit costs/ paper work fees; maybe we may find increased export restrictions on certain firearms.

Again; just my opinion.

Gotta love the democrats; one industry that is booming and they may very well push strict gun control b.s....... Wonder how that will affect peeps @ Magpul, La Rue and the like.... I wonder how many people this industry employs.... disgusting really.... This is what they need to keep the economy out of the s**tters and they are going to do the opposite....

Oh well, at least the bailout is going to save the day :rolleyes:

was at Dlask the other day...... no shortage of AR's down there hehehe
But holy crap they are pumpin them out the door in record fashion

me thinks the frenzy has just begun
just waitin on my RPAL renewal and then it's off to build another AR

Maybe companies would be encouraged to move their business North if BHO decided to tax them extra or something that would make manufacturing more lucrative in Canada.

Well,

I got a TAR21 & Mini-14... but owning an AR15 has always been in the back of my head... many options to consdier. I guess I like the idea but cant think of a situation that my TAR21 or Mini wont work in....

Anyone? help convince me... literally not just with the 'you can make a gun look good'. Plus the practicality of the AR with the restricted class is low. If she was non then Id have one already....

Kills me that one semi 223/556 is prohibited, the next is restricted and the other one is non-restricted... makes no sence.... To me restricted rifles are useless.

I would imagine that the US is the biggest market for ARs and associated wares.
It would be a PITA for the manufacturers to import that stuff into the US.

There are numerous other sources of AR's. The UK for example. Sabre and Imperial Defense. China as well.
The USA can do all the F'N bans it wants, we will still get our AR's....and flash hiders.....and collapsible stocks......5.56 marked lowers/uppers/barrels .etc!!:ar15:
Soon we will have our own supply of short barrels as well.

and AR's will Never be rare...and thus expensive. There are 1000's upon 1000's of them. Unlike say...a G36 or UMP which command a high price because they are actually rare.

Short answer: no

Long answer: Imperial defense, dlask and norinco. Theres no shortage here in Canada. Especially with all there other goodies coming in.

ok answer me this question....

WHY have I never seen a bunch of new dlask ar15's on dealers racks.... or heard about a dealer having a good supply of dlask arms ??

what I hope to see is Alberta Tactical Rifle start to produce complete rifles and dealers stocking them..... would it not be nice to walk into a store and see 10x ATR Complete ar15's hanging on the wall ??

Because Dlask sells direct in a relatively small market with presumably tight margins. What dealer is going to carry $5k - $10K or more of inventory to turn 15% or less margin. Thats just my $0.02

dlask does not have to manufacture tacticool everything guns, they could easily do an m4 spec gun with regular handguards and a CAA 6 position stock for the same cost as what other "retail" brands are selling for....

they would also be able to market the 10.5, 11.5, 14.5 bare bones model for the same price... so dealers mark them up $300 and they are the same price as say a frontier or sabre gun.

I hate Island Built... but hey, too many ofthese companies are unwilling to provide product..... I just hope ATR will wholesale to dealers once he gets caught up.
