The Scarcity of AR's

ok answer me this question....

WHY have I never seen a bunch of new dlask ar15's on dealers racks.... or heard about a dealer having a good supply of dlask arms ??

what I hope to see is Alberta Tactical Rifle start to produce complete rifles and dealers stocking them..... would it not be nice to walk into a store and see 10x ATR Complete ar15's hanging on the wall ??

Why would the ATR rifle sell so much better, I have yet to see any ATR rifle at any dealer much less a supply of them, set down the koolaide my friend.

Maybe Walter at ArmsEast can give his opinion on this?

OK,

Of the two issues raised, and my thoughts on them...

Export difficulties for AR15s, not an issue in the near future at least, I had a meeting with DDTC and they assured me that we will continue to be able to access US manf ARs.

Difficulties getting stock due to the US Obama 'Panic', this is an issue, though it won't last forever. Some of the larger manufacturers are backordered by over 100,000 units (I've heard 125,000 in one case).
For us, we get ahead of most US orders, but there is still a delay.

2 years from now? Who knows. I've never stoked customer fear in an attempt to sell a firearm, and have no plans to start. However, I think it is always true to say, there is no time like the present.

Personally, I wish I had bought some firearms when I could have in the past, sorta the driving force behind AEI actually, trying to make sure no one else finds themselves unnecessarily in that situation.

Apart from scarcity of AR's, prices are certainly going up. I bought a Bushmaster a few months ago from Ellwoods Epps; similar models are now selling for around $260 more.

In addition, there's the issue of increasing restrictions from the US side on what can be exported. No barrels below 16 inches, no 5.56 caliber etc.

Things are generally going in a downward direction so the best time to buy is always NOW.

To me restricted rifles are useless.

It is possible to have fun with a firearm and not have to kill things dude. Handguns have always sold well and they are Range toys.

I actually feel the opposite, and don't understand peoples obsession with only buying non-restricted firearms, I guess I just don't understand the fun of walking through a farmers field to justify a firearm purchase.

Give the Range a try sometime, indoors or outdoors, that's all I shoot and I have a blast.

Sometimes it's easier / nicer to go out on your own land and target shoot. It is not always about killing something... but to pay to use your rifle in only select locations etc is not that appealing.

Kills me that one semi 223/556 is prohibited, the next is restricted and the other one is non-restricted... makes no sence.... To me restricted rifles are useless.

This should read "To me restricting rifles is useless." ;) (Prohibiting/grandfathered prohibiting them seems pretty redundant as well. :( )

------- The Frms Act -12(2),12(3),12(4),12(5),12(6)-----I've owned a couple of ARs'before they came up with these numbers---- We dodged a bullet so far from the" Coalition of Losers Gov't", You can bet they plan on implementing a few more single digit "12. (?) " . Does anyone need any more reasons than these to help their buying decision NOW!!
The panic buying ( justified or not ) in the States will only make our choices here slimmer & more expensive in the future.
IMHO if you want an AR ,buy asap, today's restricted is tomorrow's Prohib!!
