I think it's mostly built up BS. How many cases of corrosive ammo have been sold in the last hundred years, now how many pics have you seen of rusted out surplus/battle rifles contributed to corrosive ammo, and rifles not being cleaned with hot water/cleaning right after shooting?? I haven't seen, or even heard of one single case where it's been contributed to that. Seen pics of what happens when you leave a rifle in a dishwasher threw a full cycle, and I promise you, my rifle (CZ 858-2, note: nothing chromed) doesn't look anything like it after shooting over a thousand rounds of corrosive and at times leaving the rifle sit for months before cleaning it.
