What can anyone tell me about these guys? I am seeing their AR-15's in M-4 configuration at all the stores in vancouver these days. 10.5" chrome-lined barrel and bolt, the fit and finish seems a little rough around the edges.

anyone own one, or can share any details? For $1,600 CDN, am I better to shell out the extra $300 and get something else?

Thanks.

No problem! The biggest questions seem to be about their country of origin. They come out of the UK, but it is uncertain if they are manufactured there or assembled there with Chinese parts... No one seems to know for sure.

I've held the 10.5", fit and finish was not really what I would expect for $1600 but the chrome bolt & carrier were a nice bonus. I would probably get one if I had the extra funds. Instead i'm going to wait until they start shipping the 10.5" uppers and slap it on the armalite lower I have.

x2.

I would not rate them anywhere near the quality of the big names. For the money some places are asking for them, I'd rather call Walter and get a Stag.

Lowers at least are Chinese with UK assembly. I wouldn't doubt the entire manufacturing is done in the East.
For $1600 I would highly recommend shooters looking for their first AR to look elsewhere.....ymmv.

ya i held one the other day, pretty crappy. the finish was horrid, the fit was ...ehhh not the best. it really looked like a norinco to me, just my 2 cents. i wont be buying one.

Cause' it looks like a Norinco?

Because it's Norinco quality at premium pricing. If these guns were selling for $800 I don't think anyone would be complaining. In fact, I'm sure people would be lining up to buy them. But for $1600+ people rightfully expect better.

I think the big problem here is that this is all we will be getting for awhile untill the new Mr. President settles in and lets us know how we are going to get screwed. Frankly, I don't care how it looks, if it's "Milspec" or not. I only care if it shoots every time I pull the trigger and hits what I'm aiming at.

Yes but for 1500.00 I would expect it to be at least as well made as an Armalite to include all the minor finishing details such as poroper anodizing, rounded machined edges etc. I still maintain the rifle is not worth more than a Norinco CQ311 and should be priced as such $1500.00 is a rip off.

yup. pretty much.

first i dont buy norinco.

second, im not paying premium price for something that isnt premium

also we will be seeing lots of AR's up here regardless of what happens. theres other countries that make them. and some make them very well. sabre to be one is in my eyes one of the best out there right now. granted it is the highest priced AR out there. im just saying theres an example. there are others, but we just havent seen them over here yet. even the M&P is great example of what were getting. just too bad the barrel is a bit long and its not threaded and its stock is fixed. those are 2 things that can still be changed here.

I saw one at Target Sports. This rifle is no comparison to the S&W beside it. NOT WORTH ANYTHING CLOSE TO $1500-$1600. It's fit and finish is horrible!!!!
