who makes the 'best' .45 acp out there for the money? currently have a norc, its ok but i would like something with really good accuracy in addition to reliability.

the sig 220 comes to mind in SA configuration.

also, a 1911 model with good sights is another consideration

how does the s&w, springfield and kimber compare in this regard?

Todd Jarrett uses a Para Ordnance in 1911 style so it's gotta be a pretty reliable. As far as modern forms of 45 I don't know much, but the USP45 is supposed to be good and I've read the new M&P 45 is a good one. I don't know much, just throwing out some names I've heard spoken of.

I have a Kimber 1911 Tactical custom 2 and just got a trigger job at dlask arms in delta bc and this gun is out of this world. Accurate and very reliable. You spend more money but the bang verus bucks is hands down the better of the 1911's. Also have a springfield XD-40 for my fiance and this is also a good gun. Only thing is you can't do any mods to it and the kimbers are endless. Happy shopping and let me know what you go with.

For me, I think one of the best buys in .45 ACP handguns is the Dan Wesson Pointman 7. Almost a custom at a production price (approx 1200). The only problem is availability as they aren't made in large numbers.....here's where I got mine (CGN sponsor, to boot!)

A top .45 would be a high-end 1911 pistol, made by the likes of Ed Brown, Les Baer and Cylinder & Slide.

He didn't ask for the best. "Who makes the 'best' .45 acp out there for the money?", he said.

Whole 'nuther thing...

...something like an STI Spartan...

i've heard the dan wesson's were really good, according to cz they are involved in the mfg of this firearm. that is good enough for me, i've had marvelous luck with cz products, where can one find dan wesson stuff in Kanada?

Just send your norc to Gunnr @ Armco. Have him do a number on it. You'll end up paying half the price of a Dan Wesson, Para, or Kimber and you'll have a piece that will match any 1911 round for round................

My $0.02.............

Of the 1911's I think I'd have one built for me by Dlask or Bits of Pieces because nothing beats getting exactly what you want from a guy in the same time zone (if Gunnar was still doing custom work I'd add him to the list). Production 1911's, I think the Dan Wesson is the best bang for the buck. With modern 45's Ken Hackathorn likes the M&P, who am I to argue?

Incidently, I would sell organs (not necessarily just my own) to get my hands on a real Vickers built 45. :D
