EASY. Fair enough. Thanks for the input but respectfully I doubt many of your assertions.
The longer neck helps the spring to prevent kinking and jamming in the tube where the mag extension is attached,
The tube (at least in my 870s) are too narrow to allow any kinking at all, regardless of the "neck" of the mag cap. As for jamming, any neck including the original and the VAN stainless ones will prevent that. I do not see an improvement at all from the delrin one to anything other model in these regard. I call bull####.
the high-viz color is visually recognizable with a quick glance
,
The original did that fine and a quick coat of coloured paint or nail polish will do that on the stainless. But I'll give credit the colour is already on and permanently throughout the delrin one and can't flake off, so point to you.
the bump in the centre of the follower makes for easier recognition in the dark by feel alone,
The hole in the stainless does the same thing. It is also hard to mistake by feel the feel of the back of a 12gauge brass base and a plastic end piece, but I suppose it would be a small more obvious improvement over the original.
the Delrin quality allows for self lubrication so it slides with ease without maintenance
OK. Sounds nice. But I've never had either jam on me. Nor have I heard of one doing so. I also know of no one who does "maintenance" on their end cap, other that keeping it clean and dry. Sounds like a solution without a problem.
and in comparison to the stainless, it's made of ligther material
[sarcasm]You must have a mighty big shovel to dig that deep. So your saying it is worth it for the weight. Your .001 oz to my .002 oz. WOW that sure is an improvement.[/sarcasm]
and a galling effect isn't produced between the tube and stainless follower when you use it often enough.
I'll give you a maybe on this one, but according to wikipedia
"It usually does not occur when joining dissimilar materials" and it also looks like there has to be pressure and friction to cause this effect. A mag follower will have virtually no force applied against the mag tube as the spring tension is only applied in the direction of the magazine. Most of all, even if there were a galling effect on some level, I do not believe for a second that it could be enough to roughen up a mag follower or tube enough to jam it. I've NEVER heard of it and I've looked.
and BBBs particular magazine follower has slots on the sides to fit through an 870 mag tube WITH the dimples. Aside from the cheezy factory REM one, no other magazine follower, fits 870 mag tubes with the dimples and allow you to take advantage of the qualities mentioned above.
Agreed. Sounds like an excellent idea. Not to argue here, just some food for thought, could the mag follower twist in mag tube so the slots fall out of alignment with the "dimples". Wouldn't the better solution, if using a mag extension be to get rid of the dimples. (Better yet, but a factory no dimples model!

)
I think this alone is worth the minor cost of this little innovation.
I don't think anyone here
NEEDS to justify cost about anything. You want it, go get it. I think it is great that BBB is making parts and accessories for us. He does us all a great service and the price is minimal. I wish him nothing but success. I only put forth my opinions/questions/contradictions for the sake of knowledge, and hopefully honesty.
I bought mine for aesthetics of the stainless on nickel and the feel of quality from a this cheap feeling cap to a nice sturdy steel one. But I don't believe that I got an ounce of functionality out of it. Just my 2c.
