Would anyone know why the Elite 3200 2-7x32 is so inexpensive compared to the VX1 , VX II and Burris FF II? Based on Cabela's Canada, Russel Sports, Lebaron's and Wholesale Sports the prices range from $210 - $230 Canadian.

Thanx
Marc

You're kind of mixing apples and oranges comparing a 3200 and a VXII!
how's that? it's kinda like a mac (bushnell) vs. a spartan (luepold). they're both apple's, they just taste different. it seems to me it's more a matter of taste of which one you like more.

as to why one is more then the other...I don't know, especially so being a lot of people seem to say the Elite 3200 is superior to the VX I, optically.

Because it costs 20-some bucks to build.

as do most optics?? some just have better polished lenses and coatings and internals. I don't think there is a scope ever made that costs more than $100 in materials.

and yah you can can compare a vxII to a 3200 for quality but not price.

The Leupy's are so expensive, and I looked through a VXII and a VXI next to the 3200 and I sure didn't see that much difference not $200 worth anyway

i have a selection of 3200, vx1 and vx11. the vx1 and the 3200 in 3x9 are really close with the edge going to the 3200. the vx11 is noticbly better. in 2x7 i find the vx1 to be better than the 3200 and the vx11 is mutch better. all in all the leups are lighter and have a better waurenty and cost more. 3200 are a good deal if on a budget. i prefer leupold.

There is so much battle between Bush's & Leupy's, and I know everyone has there favorite scope. I know the 4200 is a better scope the problem is they don't have a 2-7 I would have to drop to a 1.25-4x24 and it's about $450 and yes I can get a VX II in a 2-7 for about the same price as a 4200, the 3200 is only $ 210. You tell me is it realy worth the extra $ 240.

go with the 3200 in 2-7, it's a good scope at a fair price and it's the magnification you want.

The longer and less finicky eye relief on a Leup is a big plus. Other than that, I think a lot of what you pay for a Leupold is for the costs associated with the warranty.

ya that makes sence, there not going to sell there scopes at a lower price if they have to replace it for free. I never thought of that, makes a good point

When you are standing at the counter convincing yourself that a $200 scope is as good as a $500 scope there is another guy doing the same thing with a $50 BSA comparing it to the 3200 and at the far end yet another guy trying to make a Leupold into a Nightforce by wishing it so. It reminds of a story about wishes, horses and beggars walking all the time.

I have no idea why Leupold is so expensive IN CANADA. South of the border, they are comparably priced to Bushnell's, but in Canada, they seem to have a thing for charging WAY too much. Here's what I mean:

Cabelas.com in the U.S.:
Bushnell 4200 3-9x40: $299 USD
Leupold VX-II 3-9x40: $299 USD

Wholesalesports.com in Canada:
Bushnell 4200 3-9x40: $299 CDN
Leupold VX-II 3-9x40: $489 CDN

I do know, that I don't buy Leupold since I moved to Canada - some things are just too stupid to tolerate.

I am not trying to hijack the thread, just throwing another piece of fruit in the basket so to speak. I used to be a Leupold fan and a Bushnell customer. I was relatively happy looking through Bushnell while dreaming about Leupold. Last year I tried Vortex, since then I have switched all my glass to Vortex and I have forgotten about Leupold. I have a Diamondback 2-7X35 right now that sells for about $220 and I think it is comparable to a VXII and better than the 3200, and it comes with the unconditional VIP warranty. I have the Viper 6.5-20X44 target scope, and it performs better than any Bushnell I have looked through and as good as many of the high end Leupolds and it sells for $600-$700 depending upon reticle choice.

Just thought I would throw that in the mix!

The Bushnells are over-priced in the States because the Americans slap a stiff duty on them.
The Leupolds are overpriced in Canada because Korth makes sure they are. Bushnells are overpriced in Canada because with overpriced Leupolds a high Bushnell price starts to look good to many. At least, that's how it was explained to me.

Has warranty changed on Bushnell lately ???? I have never had warranty problems with Bushnell. I have sent back 12yr old rifle scopes, 10yr old spotting scopes, and 5yr old bino's, and have had them all replaced with brand new ones no questions asked.

go with the ff2 i was looking at the 3200 and leupy vx2 and for the $$ the ff2 at least for me was the best almost impossible to black out i love that scope i got it in 2x-7 for i think 250 but i saw them on sale for 200 recently
