How thin is the breechface of a Glock in comparison to other guns?

Could it be caused by dry firing?

;)

No I don't think so, but you can read a lot of people claim that they did tutorial test out of their glock, some fire huge among of rounds in a very short period of time out of their glock and I believe it is the result of highly stressed and excess heat to a certain area. Many people think Glock can be abused.

Apparently the breechface absorbs all the impact from the firing pin when dry firing a Glock. Maybe it's that, combined with the heat, the breechface appearing to be somewhat thin, and impact from a high round count. Who knows. Glock sure as hell won't acknowledge it lol

I still don't get why they don't beef up the slide under the ejection port a bit. That one seems common.

It's funny when people over on the GlockTalk forum get so offended if something like this comes up. They think maybe there is a conspiracy against Glock and that any claim against Glocks reliability is purely fictional. They are wicked guns, which have an awesome record for reliability, but they also use very effective marketing tactics which a lot of people seem to completely buy into.

Either way, I still want one :D

the only time I have heard of breechface breakage was when the "seals" where running subgun ammothru them.... but then they did the same thing to the beretta so it may just all be rumour...

Hate to say that, some people in Glock talk are non-sense creatures. They think Glock is the only gun and even some problems happended and they will say Perfectly normal. I like my G17 and I truely think it is a very nice gun for under $600. I don't think my Glock can out last my CZ but it is so good to have one. There are several gunsite I visited daily but I never sign up Glock talk. it is fun to read anyhow.

My next 9mm is going to be a Glock 17c, its already on "lay-away" at my local gunstore!! I won't be putting the amount of rounds through a pistol of any kind to do that kind of damage.... I hope.... I have searched through a lot of info, and for the most part people swear by, as opposed to, their glocks.... I figgure thousands of people can't be wrong.....right??

The slide cracking issue is way overblown, by far the most reliable pistol around

Don't get me wrong. I really liked the Glocks I owned, and I am not saying this happens all the time. But clearly it can, and it doesn't hurt to be informed in case such a problem does pop up.
