New style flash hider on Swiss Arms CQB 552?

Have you any idea of its design? The CQB I have has the 3 slotted style, I was wondering if they were going to go wild and include some type of breaching tool edge....

Hi, yes I know what the design is as I just bought one from Wolverine. The barrel is now threaded to accept attachments (silencers, etc) and this new flash hider is threaded on. It looks a bit like the old 3 prong afair but a bit more squared off. If I knew how to post pics here I could show you. Here is a link to some pics of what it looks like (not my rifle but similar):

On my rifle there is no spacer behind the flash hider as these guns have and you can see a few exposed threads. I whave an email into Swiss Arms to see if they can provide a factory spacer to cover the exposed threads.

The three prong flash hider will always have the end of the thread showing because it doesn't have a ledge stop nor requires a washer. You're asking Swiss Arms for something they don't make.

re

there are no threads showing because you do not have the same flash hider as I do. You have the older style. As soon as I know how to post pics I will show you the difference.

I woindered at the same question.

It appears that it is built to mount the Gemtech Halo Can. Best picture I could find was a s**tty airsoft photo unfortunately...

Google seems to have a #### filter and a language filter, but no "children s toys" filter. If some idiot comes gawking at the image above and gasps about its "high capacity" please do remind them that, as a children s plastic toy, it is generally exempt from restrictions for the moment.

Instead of the regular beveled flash hider, it has a sharp shoulder that a specifically modified Halo retaining ring can mate to.

From:
http://www.impactguns.com/store/GEM-HALO.html

The HALO was designed to meet specific international military requirements for a compact, high efficiency suppressor for the 5.56mm weapons utilizing NATO ball ammunition. The additional requirement was that the suppressor be able to quickly attach securely to a 22 mm standard NATO specification flash hider without the use of tools. The HALO suppressor meets and exceeds these requirements in a physically small package.

The HALO utilizes the proven baffle design from the well known and highly successful M4-96D and is manufactured on the latest state-of-the-art CNC manufacturing centers from space age materials. It provides sound reduction well in excess of OSHA and MIL-STD requirements in a physically compact package. Additionally, there is no degradation of weapon accuracy. Suppressor life is known to exceed 25,000 rounds.

The patented mounting system utilizes the 22 mm standard NATO-specification bird-cage type flash hider as used by the military worldwide. Mounting or removal can be performed without the use of tools in less than 30 seconds. Because the mount uses the flash hider, it is necessary that the flash hider be concentric with the bore. Some of the AR15/M16 series weapons may have had the flash hider mounted with a split-ring lockwasher or a crush washer. The split-ring lockwasher will not keep the flash hider concentric and must be remounted. The newer crush washer may or may not keep the flash hider aligned properly, and we recommend re-mounting the flash hider with the provided peel washer. This suppressor and mount were designed specifically for military weapons and may not fit on non-standard aftermarket flash hiders or muzzle brakes often found in the United States. If there is any question, it is fairly simple to change to a 22 mm NATO specification flash hider, such as the Colt A2.

The suppressor comes with detailed instructions for installation and use. It also includes a peel washer for remounting of the AR15/M16 flash hider should the original flash hider be mounted with either a split-ring lockwasher or a crush washer.

The SIG 551 delivered in the United States has an integral flash hider 21.5mm in diameter, which is not NATO spec. On special order, we can provide a variant of the HALO specifically for this weapon. Although the SIG 552 also uses a non-specification flash hider, this flash hider is threaded on and we suggest changing the flash hider to one that is 22 mm in diameter.

If someone can go through in a step by step manner as to how to post photos, I can then dispell some of the mystery as I see we are now off in another direction. I was not referring to the external thread on the flash hider in my original post but was alluding to the fact that there were some expossed threads on the barrel end that the new style flash hider did not cover. Yes, this new style flash hider is for the Rotex can and will interface with it......but....that is not what I was asking about. So, if someone can tell me how to post pics, we are on our way.....thanks
guys!

You have to host your pictures on a Photobucket.com or flickr.com type site. Just sign up to anyone you want and upload your picture there. These sites give you the code to put it in a thread. It will be the
B]blahblahblahblahblahblahblahblah[B]
one that you want. Just copy it and paste it in your thread and the image will appear when you post.

It's not as hard as it sounds. :)
