They all weren't destroyed as you describe. Quite the contrary! I used to own 10 of the ZF-69 scopes, all purchased through crown assets in the mid 90's out in Missisauga.

I just found em by fluke sitting on the shelf. They actually had been gone over by an FCS tech that I knew at CFB Toronto. I happily bumbbled up to the registers with all 10 in my arms - princily sum of $75 each to the crown - hehehehe:D

Not bad for my initial investment. Sold em all over the last few years for $600 average price. That was my one and only scoop through crown assets. You'll never see anything like that again.

And, NO, I don't have anymore guys so don't bug me:p:D

Carl....did you record the scope numbers....I would be very interested in that information. I've only seen two for sale...one on eBay about 4 years ago that was located in the USA and the other a couple of years ago at an estate sale in the Ottawa area by invitation only. I support what your stating....not all were destroyed.

Nope - didn't really interest me to record serial numbers at all. Every one of them worked flawlessly. Like I stated I knew the Fire Control Systems(FCS) tech that had gone over em, prior to release to crown assets.

Isn't it nice when the government takes the time to repair and rebuild everything before resale, at a LOSS:D

Most of the ones I had did go down to the USA. I remember selling 2 to the UK and 1 to New Zealand.

Funny how people didn't quiver with quality optics at a discount!

Carl thanks for the update on where the scopes went I do find it rather perplexing that the CF would destroy the Unertl scopes instead of recovering a portion of the cost

Not much at all. Just some minor finish wear, where the rings were.

These scopes were actually quite rugged. They were designed specifically for military use.

They went through them to check for sealing and the condition of the lenses as well. Also the elevation and windage knobs funtionality.

All mine were still in the CF canvas bags as well. Kinda cool find when I did find them. Alas, I'll never see anything like that again.

Lots of good info being posted....it's been very helpful.

Did the cleaning rod come as a 2 piece unit? I've located a 30 calibre rod, black handle, yellow coated shaft and marked "Parker Hale". Would this be correct for the C3 or C3A1?
 
Delta1....was talking to an ex-military buddy last evening....came up in conversation...going to cost me a dinner next time we get together. With any luck he has the PH borebrush and jag....he thinks he does. No idea what this is worth...Carl may have some idea?

I find with the C3 or C3A1's you need to keep asking around....there are small bits out there that got put away in someones locker and long forgotten. Just be patience and the stuff will surface. If I find another I'll let you know.

It would be great if guys would list their spare parts here regardless of condition.

I have everything except 1200 action and bipod for a c3 build.

The C3 never used the bipod...it was unique to the C3A1. The C3 used a Parker Hale handstop, target swivel and a very special and expensive sling. All hard parts to find.

Do you have the scope case, drag bag, 5E target sights, barrel, cleaning kit etc? It's a great start to a build if you've got these. A CFC manual would really help you out.

A 308 action not hard to come by...buy a sporter...tear it down and sell off the bits your not using like the barrel and stock...I've seen several donors in the $400.00 to 500.00 price range. Rear scope holes need to be redone in 8-40 or stay with the commerical scope blocks...got a few sets of these.

Nope - one piece coated rod - yellow with black handle.

Both rifles used it.

The handstop is not hard to find at all since it's still being made, you can buy it from "The Outdoorsman" in the UK; they'll get it to you in about 10 days or so.
 
Do a web search for Parker Hale C3.....it's as described....."no bipod"....I can send you a picture from the CFC manual if you like. Some folks do remove the handstop and opt for the C3A1 handstop and bipod like the one built by "redneck74". This assembly will mount on the C3 steel stock rail. Many clones are built this way.....not the real mccoy.
