I've been "collecting" different types of "exotic" 9mm ammo for a few years now. My collection has grown a bit recently. Here are some pics. Everything follows the same order except the last pic.

Anyone that has any leads on where to find brands or types that I don't have here, feel free to PM me.

I'm hoping to eventually put together some kind of accuracy, expansion, etc. comparison. That is tons of work though. Hopefully there are at least a few others out there that have an interest in seeing these pics.

ok, exotic ??....

I shoot alot of that ammo every year, last year I used 2000 rnds of 147 gr winchester JHP for idpa use.

I think of the "regular"/"non-exotic" stuff as the kind of thing in these pics (other than the front row where the hollow-points are):

Pic follows the same pattern as the one above: 147gr. in the back, then 124gr. (or similar), 115gr. in the second row, hollow points in the front.

I shoot all this stuff. Some stuff, like Rangers and Silvertips are fairly easy to come across, others pop up less frequently.

The hollow point is deadlier to the paper target. The little hole in the front of the slug cuts the paper, then the bullet shoves its way through that little hole making a bigger hole.

Very very painfull for the paper. Some would say it's just plain MEAN!

LMAO :D

Wes is a paramedic, since when did paramedics start carry guns.

hey man, we could be doing cpr on people when they turn into zombies.... people have to die to become zombies, then after they become zombies we would have to "put them down" with extreme prejudice ;) ;) ;)

thats the great thing about being a paramedic, you can kill someone, bring them back to life.... and then kill them again, life is good :)

and where are my fruit pies biatch

The tactical paramedics that work with Toronto's Emergency Task Force do IIRC.

No they don't!

From the Toront EMS web-site:

"When the ETF receives a call, the Tactical Paramedics, who are on regular duty, are taken out of ambulance operations and respond to the scene. Well-protected paramedics can then proceed into the situation under the direction of the Gun Team sergeant and under the cover of the Gun Team itself. The use of Tactical Paramedics ensures that the highest level of pre-hospital health care is both safely, and immediately available to the public and the police in an area of threat."

Tactical Paramedics enter the scene under the cover of armed ETF officers, their position is in between armed ETF.

I know nothing of the TEMS teams, wither US or canadian but from what I understand is that most of them are unarmed BUT given a familiarzation course on the officers weapons so that IF needed they could use the officers weapons to defend both themselves and the patient.

CTOMS.ca would be the place to ask about that...

I have a similar bunch of .38 Special ammo - to me it's part of the fun of collecting and shooting.
Totally agree 100%. It is a hobby guys. We do this for fun.

Is there any specific reason to use hollow point ammo while shooting targets? I thought that hollow points were just designed to expand in flesh.
No. The hollow-points, some of them in particular will make an almost semi-wadcutter type hole in the targert, but in general it is just for fun. It is amazing to see the range of "oomph" that can go into a particular round. Some 9mm practice ammo is fairly timid, and some of this hot stuff is just ferocious.

Because you want to train with the ammo you may need to use in a critical situation. Gotta make sure the stuff works and you know what it does.
This is true as well. Not really a factor for myself, as I am a lawyer by trade. But when my girlfriend and I go to the lower ranges at PoCo, the place seems to be littered with Ranger casings sometimes from the cops.

Where can I find some Cor Bon?
There is a guy from Quebec who is on this board (Kidvett) that gets them now and then and sells some in the ammo EE. I've shot some and built up a small stash of them as well. It is a +P 125gr., it's a bit hard to read that label in the pics. Very nice round. Shorter overall length compared to most of the other high-end stuff, but that can have advantages (like using in an AR). They are like $27 for a box of 20 though, so they aren't likely to become anyone's mainstay of weekend shooting.

I see you picked up the +P+ :)
Yes I did. Thanks for the tip. I haven't got around to shooting any of those yet, but I am curious to try some. The price is steep ($39/ box of 50), but at least they are boxes of 50!

did you polsih some of your ammo? :D
Naw. I'm a bit out there, but not that far.

The main 9mm rounds I use for shooting week-to-week are the Remington 115 and 124gr. "MC" (metal case, i.e. "ball"). The 124gr. ball seems to be the best for the AR-15, the pistols will eat anything. I have also been using commercially reloaded 124gr. JHP (the bullets are either the same or similar to Speer Gold-dots) in pistols and commercially re-loaded 124gr. FMJ's in the AR. Myself I am shooting about 300 rounds a week these days. It is a constant battle to keep up a stock of ammo. I could re-load myself, but I haven't really got the time.

I would suggest not taking a buffer wheel to your ammo haha. It makes the metal heat up fast. Thanks for all the info guys. I was readin on WIKI that some hollow points are more accurate as well because they have a boat tail?

Also if you are bored and do have a buffer, try buffing up your tonnies and loonies. The next time you go into the store the clerk will say ohhhh shinnnyyyy.
