Boyds laminated stock & handguard (PICS)

They have two type listed on their web site.

Anybody knows the difference between type 1 and type 2 stock?

As I understand it, type 1 is a USGI clone proportion wise with stock liner. Type 2 is oversize (competition style) with no stock liner ready for bedding.

This is a type 1. Notice the stock liner screw.

This is a type 2 beside a norc stock. It's FAT...FAT..FAT

Thanks gnmontey for your info and pics.

So the wider / thicker stock doesn't require stock liner, right?

Since its without the help of the liner will bedding be more difficult (more precise required)?

How are you getting stuff over the border that cost over 100 bucks my boyds walnut came unfinished it was like 20 cents under the limit ???

and I want a 308 stripper where u get them???

you can import stripper clips, they are not a gun part per say....... there is a seller on ebay ..... Kayhulme or somethin like that. I have loads of bandoleers kits from them from purchases a couple years ago. excellent, genuine issue stuff in premium condition. search bandoleer on ebay.ca

and..... isn't the limit really 300.00 just most places are still going by the 100 rule. All barrels bolts, military stuff and essential firing group parts are permit only though. Don't take my word on any of that though....... I gave up trying to figure it out a while back LOL

No stock liner, it's not even inletted to accept a stock liner.

I haven't bedded mine yet, will comment on difficulty after the June Calgary clinic.

Maybe some else can step in with a comment, quite a few type 2s have been purchased by GNers.

How heavy are those Boyds stocks compared to the chu wood? Fiberglass is nice and light, but the wood is timeless and i would prefer it...with all that extra size though i can imagine the Boyds stocks weighing a tonne?

Thats odd. I ordered a Boyds walnut stock and this stock weight is about the same or less then the fiberglass one. Although 45ACPKING's stock weight on his laminate stock is much more.

The best solution to the weight of carrying an m14 on a hunt is a tactical sling that allows the carry of the rifle out front, at the ready.

I'm only using mine for service rifle shoots and stuff.. I wont be taking it hunting so how much it weighed didn't matter to me.

And thanks Hungry for the welded front swivel plate and sling suggestion....

When did this appear on DM's website?

"We are NO LONGER shipping any gun related items outside of the United States of America. We apologize about any inconvenience this may cause."

Mine shipped Feb 24 and arrived Mar 14. So it's a fairly recent change.
