Hi iam looking for some help on picking out my New hunting scope for my new
gun 338 Lapua AI strictly for hunting not target shooting i want something with good dusk to dawn hunting good light gathering, range, and adjustability for long range shooting please give your opinoins on some scope Nightforce, Swarovski, Zeiss, Schmidt&bender
or Others. Looking for the BEST!!!!!:50cal::cheers:

I really like the Leupold VX-L 4.5-14x50mm that I just bought, with the Boone and Crockett reticle. Fantastic low light optics, and it has that "bite" out of the bottom of the glass in the front so you can mount a 50mm scope using the same rings as a 36mm one! There is also a 56mm version and ones with greater zoom capability which I read lets in 98% more light, though I doubt your eyes would see a difference between the 50 and 56mm version. Can't say enough about it, but I'll admit I've never had a NF, Zeiss or Swarovski.
The Leupold was the only one in my price range so I went with it and couldn't be happier.

I use a swaro 4-12 x50 tds reticle on my lapua for hunting & find I have little room for improvement on this package My buddy has a nightforce on his but I think the whole thing is just too complicated for true field hunting just my 2 pennies

VXL 4.5-14x56, illuminated reticle if you want, this has the regular B&C reticle, the low light performance is phenomenal but I have never done a side by side comparision with another brand,

I have a Nightforce NXS 3.5-15x50

Pros:
- very robust construction
- adjustments are very precise and repeatable
- clarity is very good
- low light capability is superior

Cons:
- a heavier scope

I have not had it next to a Swaro, S&B or a Diavari so I cannot comment there, but I have had it beside Conquest's, Leupies, and Bushnell's. It is better.

They are not cheap but in retrospect I feel I got good value for the money.

go to brandonoptics.com. Battery powered illuminated crosshairs built into scopes with life time warrenty included in price. 100% water proof/fog proof and a wayyy beter price than any leupold.

You are kidding right ? I think this is where "you get what you pay for" applies in spades (read: cheap = cheap), no ? How can this chinese scope even be compared to a leupold, or any other high end scope in any way whatsoever ?

ask any of our customers, they love the scopes and prices. they all come with life time warrentys and guaranteed water/fog proof with a demonstration at the gun shows. We asked Leupold and Bushnell at the trade ex show to put one of their scopes in our tank of water to prove its guaranteed waterproof and they would'nt. I stand by my product, and "chinese made" dose'nt matter any more because 80% of the scopes on the market are made in china.

You a sponsor here? Should be if you're pushing your product...

Nothing says quality like a $3000 rifle with a $79 scope...

any thoughts on schmidt&bender? or high end zeiss?

The S&Bs are good glass, but getting used to FFP can be difficult. I found I did not like the reticle changing size with magnification so sold my S&Bs as I did with my USOs.
Zeiss make nice hunting scopes, but like the Leupolds short of the MK4, that is all they are.
You are wanting to keep the weight down, so the NF could be a problem as they are heavy, like the S&BS , USOs and any of the real high end optics.
For lightweight and great optics you may want to look into Swarovski.

Well golly,
I'm going to sell all my Leupold's and buy your scopes!!!!
I just saved a pile of money.:D

BTW, who are your customers? The same people buying King Optics?;)

LOL no diss on any of leupold scopes, there sweeet but over priced example, their 3x9x40 model goes between 500 to 900 , ours on show price AND with illuminated crosshairs goes for under 100 life time warranty included. we submerge our scopes in water for the shows to prove their water proof and fog proof so customers can see for them selfs.
and for our customers were asking for them to do a review at

I'm happy for you, but board rules state no advertising if you're not a contributing sponsor. We have plenty of PAYING sponsors here to buy from. If you don't want to give a little, you won't get a little either.

Try reading the rules...

If you want a Nightforce AND have it lightweight, why not go for the compact versions, namely the 2.5-10x24 or the newer 2.5-10x32? I have the former on my 7WSM and the whole rig weighs a hair over 7 pounds. Optics are excellent, can't go wrong with a NF. :)
