Walmart is getting out of the ammo biz

on a related note apparently Canadian Tire got there permit back to sell firearms. "Apparenty" they are getting back into it now that they have tightened there policies about who can access the stuff at the stores. I had to wait for a manager the other day to get me ammo cause the clerk was under 18

Threads about ammo at wal-mart pop up now and again.
I go to local wal-marts (newmarket - superstores in Bradford and Aurora) and the ammo is not cheap. Expensive actually.
Is ammo cheap out west at a wal-mart?

would not make any difference to me - tried to buy some shotgun shells there once and after 45 mins of waiting around for someone to open the case its stored in - gave up and went to CT. No point in having stock of something if they are not going to provide any customer service and sell the item.

Box of winchester 12 gauge shot (100 pack) approx $35, 20 pack of cheap winchester .308 for approx $20. It's been about a month or so since I bought from there. The prices may have gone up.

And I dont find the service at CT much better - there are alot of students working these places that seem too busy to help anyone but dont appear to be doing much - IMHO.

Went to Walmart on the way home today . Ammo shelf was full . P/up 4 bricks of Dyna points @ $17.95 each . Ask about the rumor . They said they know nothing about it & the sporting goods staff have just gone through training on filling out & selling licences .

Yup, mine too lots of Dynapoints and Fed ammo on the shelf...more stock than Wholesale! lol

I even spoke with a manager at Supply Chain Management in Calgary (distributor for all Walmarts west of WPG) and they still are shipping and rec ammo.

Wow, i thought the Wal-Mart prices are chainwide but I guess not. In BC, that 100 pack of Winchester 2 3/4" shot shells is $27 and most centrefire cartridges are $15 to $18 for 20

Each Wally Mart do thier own pricing. mostly what the local area allows. As for ammo...each individual store carries what is selling. the more ammo bought keeps the demand up. I was at my local store tonite and asked the manager ( a friend) about the rumour and he shoots so ammo always will be plentiful. I did however buy out their stock of 333 and Experts...... for the upcoming varmint season. Don't wanna be short when that starts. Still about $15 a brick.

How good is that 333 ammo BTW? I have been tempted to try it a few times now as it seems cheap.

I'm getting about 5% misfires with the 333
I ran the same round 3 times in my pistol and rifle and none of the 3 strikes succeeded to ignite the primer.
No such problem with Federal 525 and American Eagle.

Never had a misfire with the 333s...some other brands were as high as 50 per brick. the 333s work (cycle) great thru all my guns, semi auto and bolt. . But accuracy differs for each gun. One likes Experts while another loves Dynapoints while yet another shoot marvelous with 333s.

I've been getting about the same (5%) misfires for the 333 ammo. The Federal stuff 525 boxes have been utter shi t in the 4 different firearms I have. They are prone to super high amounts of misfires and FTE, I got a friend to try and fire off the remaining 150 or so rounds out of his 2 pistols and he ended up throwing the last 100 rounds in the recycle box at the range as he cursed a diatribe that cant be repeated. They were truly utter garbage. The dynapoints have been excellent in all my guns, and pretty accurate too. I cringe when my local store runs out of them. (usually because I bought them all!!!)

AE gives me trouble whereas 333 works fine for me.

Oh and Ive been buying ammo ocassionally the past 2 months from Wal-Marts. The stock levels have always been the same whenever Ive gone in, they dont seem to stock massive amounts, but they usually always have at least 1 or 2 boxes of each.

Nither the Oakville Ont and Burlington Ont. Walmarts have ammo cabnets anymore. Nothing but BB's in there now. I was told by an employee at the Oakville one that it's up to the store manager...do we, or do we not carry ammo. He also told me that most of the stores in the GTA are getting out of it.

Edit. Burlington one still has some, but once it's sold, that's it according to staff.

If someone was to work at CT as a floor salesperson and sell firearms, would they need a PAL É (french keyboard sorry)
