What's with this rifle ? What's the status in Canada?

I liked it two but since it's labeled 556 instead of 223 the US won't allow export. Even though there is a version that would make it non-res of this model.
 
It's considered Restricted...The Model is restricted, has nothing to do with the barrel length (range from 16" - 18.5"). Don't ask me why its restricted...I'm just going by what it says in the FRT. (I just looked it up!)

If it is in the FRT somebody must have imported it at some point. I've never seen one in the EE though, so good luck finding one. It positively exudes evil...send the picture to Wendy and she'd wet herself.
 
because its overall length is too short when it is fired from the collapased position, therefore restricted

The sub 18.5" barrel versions are restricted. The 18.5" version would not be restricted but I doubt there is an FRT number for it since no one has tried to import.

It's restricted, when restricted, due to barrel length, like I said.
 
The 'Alpha' model is something like 4 mm short of the 18.5" (Something about the way they measure the barrel length).

I'd love to get my hands on a PLR-16, though.

No...Its restriction has NOTHING to do with barrel length. The Model is cosidered RESTRICTED!!! It could have a 75" Barrel and still be restricted. (like an AR, etc...)

Show some proof of that claim.

It is not an AR. It uses a gas piston, not direct impingement. It doesn't even look like an AR, so don't bother bringing up the GSG-5.

The barrel was just slightly too short. The RCMP and the BATFE do not measure barrel length the same way. That's all.

You're absolutely right !!
I held one at Cabela's in States.
It's made of ugly finished composite,butt stock needs a cheek piece (specially
if you want to use scope) and that Butt-ugly bi-pod ....OH,LORD!
It feels and sounds like an toy pop gun when action is cycled.
Not worth to import in my opinion.

Just my two cents...
