Is the Norinco 1911 reliable and well-built?

what I want to know is would you trust your life with a Norc? for me none of my guns are toys for the range , they all serve a purpose in hunting or bear defence, I always assumed that Norincos were garbage because they cost half as much and are made in china, and I didn't realize how popular they were with gun nutz.

In my opinion your asking an almost impossible question too answer -WOULD YOU TRUST YOUR LIFE ON A NORINCO? On the theory alone that every 1911 is slightly different(YES THIS IS TRUE DON't SWAP OUT PARTS FROM ONE AND EXPECT IT TO WORK IN ANOTHER)thats impossible to answer considering one example might be fitted better than the other(Hence better reliability)i would regard any NORINCO 1911 with extreme discretion and replace parts as neccesary and have a gunsmith look it over thoroughly. If you wanted to trust it with your life wouldn't it be worth it too get it looked over?Small investment getting a gunsmith to do that considering you would want to trust your norinco like that!!!!

FWIW, many foreign police forces and militia use Norc products but I'm sure they've been 'wringed' out by their respective armourers. From what I've been reading they are far more popular than people realize and they would also sell well in the US if there wasn't an embargo on them.

This applies to firearms manufactured by any manufacturer. If you are going to use the firearm to defend your life, you had better test it extensively BEFORE you go into the field.

It doesn't matter if it is a Norinco, Colt, Remington etc., you have to prove to yourself that it is 100% reliable and will suit your particular requirements.

I didn't realize US had an embargo, weird, doesn't China make everything in the US ?
