i narrowed down my handgun choice to the glock brand....I am set on a full frame glock....either a g17 or a g22.....which one do you guys recommend...
 
If you plan on reloading i would buy the g22 then get an aftermarket barrel so the cases don't bulge like on the stock barrel. I was told that the 9mm casings aren't good for reloading, they work but aren't good. Besides you can reload .40 for about $.75 to $1/box more than 9mm so why not shoot .40? Just my .02 cents.
 
I like my G17:)
If you are not into reloading go for the 9mm.9mm is still cheap to shoot if you buy factory stuff.

Hard to answer....It is largely subjective. There is precious little difference between them.

I would go with the G17 due to the slightly lower ammo cost. If cost of the ammo is not an issue you can still shoot more for less in the nine.

Personally, I would go for the G22 simply because I have a G20. Same box of 180 grain bullets feed both. That said, I wouldn't go with the G22 without an aftermarket barrel to keep the brass reloadable.

Good luck in the choice. I don't think you can go wrong either way...
 
Glock 22 hand down. Not as much 'flip' or 'sharpness' IMHO.....I'm no expert, but I use two of them for IPSC and range practice. If you are going to shoot competition, be careful about changing barrels, as it may not be allowed in certain divisions (IPSC)

Buy CMB ammo if you can...good prices, great product.
 
yes because the 9mm case tapers if you look at it, the .40 and .45 don't, this makes the 9mm reloads not as accurate as the factory 9mm when u reload them. The .40 and .45 are better cartidges for reloading.

hmmm... I don't agree but hate to take a thread way off topic.
 
I was in the same boat...I went with .40 cal. I use 9mm at work and have a few concerns about it getting the job done.

This gun is also my home defense weapon right now so I opted for something with a little more "oompf"

Ammos is about .12 cents more a around...but the .40 will let you "Grow" into IPSC...

Get the G22. The "Gock Bulge", non-supported cylinder hype is just that, Internet hype. I've reloaded tons of "range brass" as well as my own "had from brand new brass". The "bulge has never been an issue (mind you I don't load to max), but then again, even factory ammo hasn't displayed the infamous bulge.

I bought a Lone Wolf after market barrel, but not because of the "un-supported" cylinder bunk, I want to shoot cast and with the factory barrel, I was getting perfect keyholes ..

What is "combat shooting"???

If you are not reloading, do you need full power 40 S&W? You will DEFINITELY feel the difference going through 500 rounds in a day shooting 40 vs 9mm through a Glock, because it is a relatively light gun.

Just one thing to consider.
 
9mm vs .40

Get the Glock 22 in .40 cal and then get an aftermarket barrel to shoot cast bullets. You also have the option of getting an aftermarket conversion barrel to shoot 9mm in the gun. The .40 Glock mags work well for 9mm, so you don't need to buy 9mm mags! It's like getting a second gun for less than half price and brass for both calibers is cheap and plentiful.

Really. Damn. I must be doing something wrong on my press then. ;)

The reality is we're talking about a standard Glock here, not a tuned target target gun: if there is a variance, the average shooter will never notice it.

The thing of reloading for 9mm had been up until this last year one of cost benefit: it simply was easier and marginally more expensive to buy factory than to spend the time reloading. With prices going up and supply going down, that changes the equation.

Choose whatever you like and shoot the heck out of it, be it .40 or 9mm. Reloading just gives you more literal bang for your buck.

9mm is standard issue in Canada and the USA. Glock 17 is likely better. But if you really want to have fun, Glock 21SF .45 or 20SF 10mm. Ellwood Epps has best prices right now. 20SF isn't really available here yet.
