TC Pro Hunter - Stainless

My buddy owns one in .270...under an inch at 100 yards with federal power-shock ammo. I believe he lightened the trigger a bit, but I even shoot MOA with it and I don't care much for single shots. Pssst... newsflash: I'm not the greatest shot that ever lived by any means, and that TC makes me look good :p

well with mine i can do 0.8" at 100 yards
for being reliable well i shot over 100 shots with my 7mm rem mag and never a miss fire.

(o ya if you want to do under 1" or so you NEED a encore Locker Pin..) and a good scope base.

YOU WILL NOT FIND A BETTER BASE...

Excellent, I am planning a prohunter as my next purchase. I have never needed more than one shot in the field. They dont look like much fun at the range however, but I have other toys for that. ;)

I think that it would depend in if you are a handloader or not. I have never owned one, the reason is that I do handload. About 20 years ago, my dad, and step mother got heavily into the TCR 83 setup, with multiple barrels ranging from 223rem, 243win, 270win 30-06, 7mm rem mag, plus others. The only cartridges that they could get more than a few shots out of the brass where the 223. By their very design, when they are subjected to high pressure, the action stretches slightly to accommodate, and because of the hinge, the case head stretches unevenly. There is no way around this. A fellow in town has one of those NEF handi rifles in 30-06 that balks with standard pressures, and apparently he has actually had it come off of the face (open due to pressure). When you see an English double rifle, they are almost always made in low pressure cartridges due to this. The design works well with low pressure cartridges, but I would suspect that TC has not found a way around the limitations of this action type.

The prohunter comes in many high pressure calibers. I was planning on starting with a .460 s&w. Has anyone had any problems with the action in high pressure calibers? I do not handload, but want to know I have the option.

Until just recently I owned 14 Encores and Pro Hunter Encores, I've now thinned the herd to 3 frames and a couple of dozen barrels. I have had just about one of every barrel TC makes and many multiples of the 300Wm, 7rm, 338wm, 375 h&h, 416 Rigby. I don't know any of these fit your idea of high pressure or not. I have never had a problem with reloading my rounds, like any rifle control your headspace when you resize and the brass lasts a long time.
I've never heard of frame stretching nor do I change out the hinge pins, your mileage may vary.
