Hey guys, I was listening to a fish and hunt show on Montreal's CKAC sports radio last night. There was a segment where a Browning representative gave his top choices of calibers for bear hunting.
Here they are: .308 Win., 270 Win., 30 06 Springfield, 270 WSM, 300 WSM and 325 WSM. He said that he preferred heavier bullets for faster dispatch of the animals, because they caused a greater hydro-shock. He later added that he was now using a rifle (probably a BLR) in 450 Marlin for bear. He continued by stating that black powder rifles were useful under 100 yrds and that rifled shotguns, like the BPS were effective tools under 50 yrds.
I had a s**t eating grin on my face listening to that interview. They failed to mention the 358 Winchester among others. During the whole show, there were no mentions of S5 or Bill C-301, even during their sportsman oriented news report.
