I can't flip the rear base as it will interfere with the bolt. The only thing I can do is get a forward mount that has the ring between the mounting holes. If I flip the front mount forward, my scope moves ahead at least 1/2 an inch! with a mount between the holes I can still mount the scope in the same position! Darn short actions!
 
^ I wouldn't bother, then; leave it as is, but be mindful of it.

My rings are spaced pretty close too, haven't had any problems after a year, then again, I haven't had any serious drops... (My pic ain't as fancy as yours lol).

Well here is how things turned out for me at the range today with my first Remington.

The target on the top left was 52gr Hornady HPBT, Winchester cases 210M primer and 34gr Benchmark. 3736FPS (Low),
3752FPS (High).

The target on the top right was 40gr Hornady Vmax, Remington cases 210M primer and 39.5gr Varget. 4212FPS (Low), 4215FPS(High).

The bottom target was 53gr Barnes X, Winchester cases, 210M primer and 35gr RL15. 3532FPS (Low), 3553 (High).

I also tried 60gr Nosler Partitions. The 1-14 twist in this rifle will not stabilize them. They were all over the page. Too embarrassed to put the target up but I was getting 3409FPS (Low), 3488 (High). Remington cases 210M primer 34gr RL15.

I think I am getting in the ballpark! Eventually I will get the action trued and the bolt sleeved for the firing pin, then it should be all set. I am real happy how the 40gr shoot. Now if I can get the 52gr to shoot like that I'll be a happy guy. What the 40gr shoot like is what the 52gr did in my Sako when I had it. Not sure if the 1-14 compared to the 1-12 is what is making the difference? Oh well it's fun to play! I guess I have to say that I am happy with my first Remington!
 
Nice rifle, but if it were mine, I'd not have used extension bases. There's lots of room on that scope to use a standard front and rear base to spread the rings better along to scope tube. Should make it stiffer and more stable.

And yes, 2 piece bases look SOOOO much better.

That is what was sent with the rifle. I probably will change them sometime. I agree with you on the 2 base thing!
 
I just knew this platform was accurate. If only more people could give up the whole "tacticool" nonsense and ripoffs and try something different that performs like this.
