Dominion Arms Backpacker Security Concern

I just got mine (Proof pics h ttp://www.christianforums.net/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=34838&start=75#p438315)

I put 300 shells though her off cheap ammo that i got at the walmart and 30 3" mag slugs and 30 3" mag buckshot.

The front stock piece fell off twice with the slugs.

Other then that she is quite the nice little gun, I'd recommend it if anyone wanted a cheap backpack shotgun.

Edit: another box of slugs and my front bead blew off. :(

Did it break off or just come unscrewed?
You probably need a taller one anyways.....Loctite the replacement!

It came unscrewed but i screwed it back in, one shot later it was gone, Luckily i had a replacement, the threads did not quite match so i JB welded it.

Its my bear swatter gun, it does not have to look pretty. ;)

Well I was going to get one of these, but too much bad stories about them. Arn't these things only supposed to shoot 2 3/4'' shells?

Calling Canam, I see you posting everywhere but here? Please let us know what is going on with these SG's.

thanks

Sorry, what would you like to know? We have only had the occasional forend fall off while shooting on the backpacker. Overall they have been very good.

I am not (as) concerned about the forend falling off when firing...

Was the barrel deformed on the backpacker that was returned to you?

If so do you know what caused it? Should owners be concerned?

Bottom line, are the backpackers safe to shoot.

Chinese quality :)
you buy chinese , you get chinese lol.

You know I prefer to buy Canadian for the most part and Chinese is way down the list. BUT my Chinese firearms are good. My M14s are great for the money and can beat Springfields at the range. My 1911 and Grizzly are built well. Sure the 1911 has some sharp edges but so do a lot of 1911s costing much more. The Grizzly is strong, not perfect but neither is my Remington 870 Express.

Now I haven't shot the Backpacker but seeing it in person didn't leave me thinking it was weak and couldn't handle the pressures of a shotgun shell. Seemed sturdy enough and for the price you can just leave it locked up at your cottage or whatever and not worry about it.

That being said, I too would like to see some pictures and measurements of the barrel comparing the "damaged" gun to a new gun. CanAm hint hint... :p

PS - interesting thread title... "security"?

That might be a good temporary fix but are you sure the epoxy will hold the replacement bead in place over a couple hundred rounds worth of shock loading?

All the forces that caused your first bead to loosen & fly away are still there...

If it is a bear gun the bead may be important...expect to fire the first round at least 20 meters away. If this is a single shot, possibly the only round.
