I just got a new handgun

There's nothing wrong with being a poser or shooting strictly for fun. There is concern when those who do(pose) talk sh*t about why their "fun" gun is better than another and base their entire position on stationary slow fire shooting at a stationary target in a well lit comfortable environment. Coupled with their lack of experience(low round count) absent training and infrequent range sessions, their opinions are nothing more than personal preference.

Handguns like rifles and shotguns are all tools. They "should" serve a purpose and/or solve a problem. The handgun has a relatively small role as far as firearms are concerned. The rifle and shotgun are much better suited for many of the roles a handgun can play and then some. The right tool for the right job. This of course doesn't factor in when discussing "fun" guns.

On a side note, I would take the Camry over any sports car. I prefer my gear to be practical and reliable. Hot cars are the epitome of poser material. 99% of those who own one have no clue how to drive it. Most sports cars are next to useless for anything but cruising or "looking cool". If you own a sports car and race at the track(for fun or not) or have taken some sort of professional training, my comments don't apply. For the guy who buys his Corvette/Mustang/Charger or any of the exotic sports cars only to park it in the driveway or run to the store for milk. You're a poser..

ETA: As for being a Glock fan, read my signature line...

yes my handguns are only for fun like 99% of the canadian population who owns guns! I don't know what you do with yours or if you work with firearms in a high stress environment (i doubt it because after all this is still the internet lol but i would hope so because the poser wouldn't be me in that case) but if you really have the training and qualifications youre hinting you have then yes the Glock might be better suited for your line of work!

At least i'm glad you realize that rifles and shotguns are a lot more efficient!
I can say that i'm alot better than an average shot when it comes to shooting rifles or shotguns and i think they are 100 times better suited for selfdefence in Canada than handguns (as in home defense where you don't have to carry), thats why i don't bother much with handguns! If i ever need to defend my self or my familly i have easier acces to my NR guns!
Also for the average shooter it takes alot more practive to become efficient with a handgun than with a rifle!

Again my definition of a poser is maybe not the same as yours! By your definition pretty much everyone on CGN are posers except LEOs and military people! For all i know a poser for me is people who take themselves too seriously (as in the guy who has all the tactical equipment, wears bullet proof vests and cadpat on a everyday basis, mall ninja type) and that think they know it all!
So as far as i know youre as much as a poser as i am

on a side note yes i love sports car, they are actually my first hobby before guns and i have been doing track days with different car clubs in Quebec for a while! I have a certification to run on pretty much all the tracks in Quebec and Ontario and know how to drive my cars to the limit! For me a car is not only a mean of transportation and i don't have a fancy car, i run 30year old BMW on the track and a diesel golf everyday!

I still carry a noob badge, but I understood something quite quickly; Arguing about which gun is better than another is like arguing about which color looks better. It's all about what you prefer: some prefer the glock, some like the beretta. Some think both are crap and go SIG; It's all a mather of personal preference. :yingyang:

BTW, I had chocolate cookies for lunch, but I traded them for a piece of cheese cake :kickInTheNuts:

yes you are totally right! although for my defense i just stated my opinion and wa spretty much attacked on it and called a poser
i hate arguing on the internet!

by the way i would've chosed the chescake too lol! ;)

Please stop saying Glock. Please
The name gives me an ice cream headache.

Wanna get laid?

Crawl up a chicken's ass and wait.

The bold portion is the only true part of your statement. Depending on the role or intended purpose for the pistol, there are makes and models that are better suited for the job. Short of a "fun" gun the Beretta is a piece of smashed a$$. For those who have some professional training, the negative aspects of the Beretta(or any other firearm) are easy to spot. The Beretta has a longer list than most.

Finally the Beretta has something the Glock will never have, it's called STYLE !
I agree completely...Glock is perfect example of a mass produced gun that has to work while keeping the manufacturing costs to an Absolute Minimum. It's was made to sit in a holster of a cop day in and day out... And speaking of posers every time i hear someone preach how great a Glock is, poser is the first thing that comes to my mind. I mean with all the guns out there that are just as reliable but also more ergonomic, have a better trigger, better sights and just don't look like they're made of Lego's why would anyone still want a Glock? Seems like the main reason is because of all of the LEO's that are using it (again a gun that works but for LESS $) If that doesn't make one a poser what does?!

The reason Glocks are in cop holsters reaches far beyond the relative cost factor. Simply put, Glocks work. Glocks can be depended on to work. And they do. Hence their presence in most cop holsters in North America and beyond.

That said, personally I think Glocks are butt ugly. No romance. No style. Plasticy, tupperware, Lego......... But just butt ugly functional. But of all the pistols I can think of, or have access to, if I had to pick just one, knowing it had to be used in an imminent SHTF scenario, without hesitation it would be the G22 I've been shooting since 1995 without one hitch.

Don't get me wrong.... I love the 1911, the BHP, etc..... but a Glock would be my "go to".

My .02...... your mileage will probably vary.

:agree:

It's in most cops holster because it's a low maintenance, it operates at any temperature or in any condition, it's cheap, it's a reliable and it's a dependable pistol. Sure you can load up the mag with turd and it'll still shoot, but who cares, most "sport" shooters will baby their pistols anyway...

As for the trade, why flame a guy who traded a glock for a beretta. To me, a trade is good as long as both parties are happy and got what they wanted.

How could anyone pick a glock over a Sig Sauer or even a Beretta to a lesser extent.

<sarcasm>I think we should ban glocks because they are dangerous, evil and unsafe because they are made of plastic.</sarcasm>

NAA,

Interestingly, I was just thinking the other day myself... "OK, which one of mine for a possible SHTF scenario...?"

My decision too was, the one Glock I own, hands down. No question. ;)

Check your facts. The Glock was designed for the Austrian ARMY not law enforcement. The fact the pistol is very easy to shoot, simple in design and function and boringly reliable makes it suitable for every other role as well.

As I've posted in this thread and others, those who talk about better triggers, better grip/feel are lacking in experience and training. I have zero issues handing a$$ with my stock Glock with the big bad XS Big dot sights as well. Two summers ago I shot a two gun match in Medicine Hat. One competitor was running an STI Grandmaster. Myself and the three buddies I shot with all had zero issue destroying his score and time. With three stock Glocks and one SIG p220. Last summer I shot the three gun match in Lethbridge with my Glock 26 and won grand aggregate against 50 other competitors. My buddy shot the match with his G26 and he took first place in stock division with aother buddy taking second(he used his G17 with Big Dots). I guess it must have been the sight radius. No wait, I think it was the extra grip length, no no, it must have been the factory trigger..

Its called skill.

Training? what does that have to do with anything?? Sure with enough effort you can get used to any grip and any trigger but what does that prove? why not just start with something that fits your hand well, has good sights, trigger etc.

Again, you've illustrated my point. If you understand proper grip, sight alignment, trigger finger placement, creep, trigger squeeze/pull and trigger reset. What pistol you shoot is of no concern. Master the fundamentals and all pistols will shoot where you want.

You said it yourself, EFFORT. Which translates into dedicated time and resources to PRACTICE and/or TRAIN. Trigger jobs and custom grips are nothing but crutches for the poorly trained or lazy.

I pose hard and love my Glock...I like the look of the Beretta but they are to big imho. Slavex killed all of his so I'll take a pass on them.

Oh that and 9mm is for rappers
