Type 97 Classification Issues - PART TWO

I pulled out much earlier then some but cant stop thinking about this little gem. Does anybody know of another semi .223 other than a ruger mini 14 that is non-restricted. This caliber in handy as you can carry it with only a varmints license. The cz858 is nice but I guess only carrieable during deer season because its 7.62x39. thanx

That's because you're in NB. Hunting laws are different through out the provinces. Try a robinson arms XCR or M96, Swiss arms, or AR180B-2. I've shot all 3 and loved them all, mostly the XCR, but I could only afford the AR180B. I do like it and I'll hold on to this one.

Thankyou urbaneddy. Gonna check in to those. cheers

Also, if you are interested, The new Fredericton gunshop had a HK SL8(drool) for sale not to long ago. They are located at 81 Sunset drive, 506-454-###X. Good luck. I should probably get back to topic.......... I can't think of anything anymore for T97, enough has been said.

the liberals are rubbing their hands

It allway's works for goverment agencies. Just wait out the storm of anger over a ridiculous policy.
They have waited us out and now even a bunch of the guy's who said they were in till the end are bailing.
I can't blame anybody for bailing. I have'nt yet but i sure feel like it. It's being in the dark on the whole issue and feeling like there is a complete lack of progress that get's me.
I just wanted to thank all the guy's who have taken an active role in this fight. You have commited a lot of time and effort when most of us either don't have the time or drive to do so.
At least, when one day there come the hand in day like Australia you will feel like you fought the good fight. :(

thanks Jake

I haven't bailed yet. And if I do my money will stay with canam for a tavor.

I have an xcr, and still get to put plenty of .223 jhps at gophers.

I put my name on the list for an XCR... If the XCR gets here before the T-97 (they said they were hoping to clear up back orders by fall) then I'll cancel my order for the T-97. But if the Norc gets released before then I'll take my name off the XCR list.

Basically whatever comes first wins..

I thought I'd be in for the long haul, but as it stands I have money tied up and I don't have anything to show. We'll see how this plays.

I'm still waiting, since last July... But at this point I have to agree, that after so long, without us hearing anything concrete from CanAm, it is pushing me further and further towards just getting that money back and putting it towards something else, or paying the bills. Times are tough for many of us, partners laid off in my case. I could use that approximately $950 with taxes and all right now.

The only person in this entire conversation or thread that has any credible information as to when this MIGHT be cleared up is CanAm. It would be great to hear from them a timeframe, anything that can shed light on how long we are looking at for a wait.

If legal action is ongoing then obviously the details shouldn't be broadcast in an online forum for public opinion to make a train wreck of. However, there are many of us here, dozens at least, hundreds perhaps who are waiting and many of those may be in the same boat as myself; that the money sitting waiting for the T-97 could be used for other things, (or more accurately, the other half of the household telling me that money could be used for other things right now) who are running out of excuses to keep waiting because it will only be another week or so and are starting to think that maybe it is just better to get the money back and forget the whole Type-97 thing.

All it would take to clear up the confusion is for CanAm to let us know what we are looking at for at least a minumum timeline here. If legal action is taking time, then there must be a minumum timeline. Could they let us know if it's going to be weeks? Months? Many months? A year or more perhaps? All those are VERY different timelines and make a difference and despite some on here being able to sit with money idling around waiting, I'm willing to bet there are many more on here who have money sitting idling around waiting who are in the same boat I'm in, that if word doesnt' come soon, that money has to come out for something else. If we knew, then we could make a decision, (and of course know that this entire debacle was not the fault of CanadaAmmo, we all know this.). There must however, be more information CanAm can give us that does not affect any legal action that may or may not be currently ongoing?

Listen you guys are fools if you think that this is over. The RCMP is acting like a bunch of schoolyard bullies and now that they've been hit back with some public scrutiny like a bunch of pussies they've curled up in the corner hoping we'll all go away.

These things take endurance.

Well I have to say that I am definately in it till the END. I have this disease, it is called workaholism. 800 bucks out of my pocket is not the end of the world, I do not drink or smoke and work a minimum of two businesses.

I am tired of doing what is right and still getting shafted. I called CANAM and spoke with him personally. I have faith that he is not importing anything that we cannot have. If it take years, I am fine with that. I have enough safe queens as it is, that do not get used. Just like most other 12(3), 12(4),12(5) people have. So having paid for something that we should be able to purchase, but that big brother has decided that oops, we do not like it, so lets see if we can make the importers life miserable enough to quit. I will support him to the end.

Quit trying to import firearms like the T97, or the business altogether? The latter intent is possible since there's a fair amount of cash tied up in the shipment. This has already been discussed already, so I don't want to cover old ground again.

Good point by Slyder73, knowing the rough timeframe and odds of winning would help us make a decision to get something different or hang in there (reasonable timeframe- within a year?) for a resolution. Kudos to CanAM for offering to give us verbal updates.
