well i was looking to buy a polaris ranger and well then i thought that it would suck in the winter seeing it did not have a heater , then i looked online at some kits for it , and for the winshield kits ,doors. and well after all that i was looking at $18,000-22,000

so i look at other stuff , and this is what i picked up.
'90 Daihatsu Hijet "ex Fire Truck" 4wd , with under 5000km!!! this truck is like new. and it has a 660cc, 3 cyl, 4 spd, selectable 4wd, hi/low gear and best of all it is street legal so i can drive it on the road. total cost worked out to $7000.00 much better deal , they are much better on gas then the polaris ranger also..

all i need to do is buy a 3" lift kit for it , witch is 300.00 and some nice 25" atv tires and rims witch will cost 800-1200.00

then i am going to paint it white winter camo.

i am a fat #### and i fit in it ez. lol i am 6foot3" and 250lb's and i fit in it.

It gets 21 hectares per litre of Kerosene LOL.

We have a few of them around here, too. Some are "Hunting pimped" in Realtree camo. They are perfect for the close to home hunts. I'll stick with my Ford 4x4 and Arctic Cat quad though.

Cheers, Hakx

Put ATV tires on it and its no longer street legal...

I'd build a box of some type on the back, that could double as a sleeping bunk if you want to spend the night in the bush...

i know aTV tires are not d.o.t , but i would put them on when i am hunting.

Ok, I gotta ask: Where did you find this thing & how hard is it to find parts?

keiking.com and for finding parts , ebay , and use minitrucktalk.com for parts

there are also lots of parts you can get at local parts stores. but they will need to order them in.

most of the time when you by the trucks they have 60-80,000kms on them and they are in vg shape. most of the time you will get 100,000kms out of it before you need to do work on it. at 100k you should do timeing belt and spark plugs and wires caps

its like a car. do oil changes drive it nice and you will get 100+ k outof it before you need to do lots of work.

nice... they are selling lots of them here. I passed a guy the other day on the hiway and he was for sure doing 90 or so.

What a great little grocery getter, hunting rig, etc etc etc.

they will do 100kms but your running the motor at 5500 rpm! but they say that that is ok on the motor ... and i know ppl that drive to work each day 20,min away on the hiway at 110km's and 6500rpm and there still running like new. i dont think so lol ill keep mine at 85km's witch runs 3500-4000 rpm.

I looked into these awhile ago, from what owners on kei forums said the lift kits are a huge pain in the ass and not worth the extra clearance for the issues they cause on these mini trucks. Dont remeber the exact issue, but it may be worth looking into before purchasing. I think most will fit 25" tires without a lift anyway? One thing will be to keep an eye on the load rating of atv tires, I know a lot of tires arent' rated for much weigh, but there's some that will do the job well. Carlise or something rather is one i've remebered hearing has a high weight rating.

I'm looking at a Ranger and although these trucks are pretty cool, I think I will still look at a Ranger.
