Picked up a Glock 20 last week, did some reloading over the weekend as I cannot buy 10mm anywhere locally.
The results were great. For lack of a better term, the recoil was 'smooth' and the Glock seemed to handle it well.

Specs below:

- 180gr JHP
- 8.5gr Hodgdon HS7 ( oldie but a goodie)
- Federal Magnum Primer

Not too bad for a first time?

I'm sure I will be able to tighten up my groups as I get used the the Glock.
I am really enjoying the 10mm round and have a lot of room to 'move-up' in charges.

Big Thanks goes out to Members: 'Billy The Kid' and 'Cerdan' who helped me get some components together.

You shoot to the left too eh? I love my G20. I suggest a heavier recoil spring and an aftermarket barrel to help with brass life and safety when shooting the good stuff.

I have been doing a lot of 10mm reloading lately... I would not push anything too hard in a factory Glock barrel (you definitely want to ease off when you see the ''Glock Smilies" at the brass's 6 o'clock).

In my DW Bobtail I've got the following happening and working well:
165gr TMJ bullets 860fps (Way underpowered but very accurate plinking load)
135gr HP bullets 1400fps (lots of speed and bang, but not bad on recoil)

Im trying to get my 180gr HP bullets to 1300 fps, but I'm stuck. I'm currently at 1280fps but it's kicking so hard that it's not reliable (binding recoil spring a couple times as well as rounds in magazine stove piping from recoil). I'm waiting for stronger recoil spring and stronger mag springs and full length guide rod to keep working it! :)

Im using Longshot.

The 10mm is super fun though. Nice purchase on the Glock, they can handle the recoil... but the chambers are way too large. Remember to check your brass; get an aftermarket 6" barrel if you want to push it harder.

What velocities have you loaded your rounds to? Just curious as i have read that 10mm can achieve relatively high velocities.

Just started reloading for it actually, and with the data I am using I am probably around the 1,060 -1,100 FPS velocity.
Pretty light but good for plinking. I need to invest in a Crony.

There are much more experienced 10mm gurus here that I'm sure could tell you how to get over the 1,300 hump.

DW Bobtail = Drool... you lucky bugger.

Glad to see you put the cases to good use so soon Greg! I predict much enjoyment in your future, hehe.

Heed B's words. I bought some new and heavier springs for my Delta Elite (I don't think they'd been changed once since the 80's!) and it feels like a totally new gun. I'm confident shooting even the hottest loads through it now whereas I previously only used it for light target loads. Among other things, since the case stays in battery much longer than before, I don't get any case bulging at all anymore. A worthy investment indeed!

Just to brag, I am pushing 180 JHPs to 1350fps (Blue-Dot) out of a 4.6"bbl and the brass is on it's 5th reload. 135 sierra's come out at 1650fps(800X) though I am still tweaking that load. I am having trouble with 200s too, most I can get safely is 1150fps(AA9). You guys really need some 800x, I have some wicked data all at the top end within pressure limits. I am stoked to start development with it.

Keep in mind I have a 22lb spring, steel recoil rod and and aftermarket barrel! I am even considering buying springs that are even heavier just to experiment. Camp Cook has an huge amount of knowledge related to 10mm. I expect he will chime in to blow my numbers out of the water.

10mm Is the Tits man.:p.......I love it too Yes as others have mentioned deffinatly change out the glock barrel if your going to hot rod the loads....And blue dot is a great powder for the 10mm

Thanks guys. I think I will slowly work my way up the loading charts, and yes some after-market parts will be in my future.
For now though I will work with what I have. I will also try and get my hand on some 800X - maybe Higginsons?

I have lots, too bad you are so far away. It is the best powder for safe top end and nuclear loads. Blue-Dot comes in a close 2nd with AA9 being my favourite for my mass produced SHTF rounds. Meters perfectly.

Hey guys,
I am just getting into loading for my 10mms (Yes Billy, I have been shooting factory ammo all this time ) and have been getting advice off post from you guys and Camp Cook's load data on Glock Talk but I have to ask, who manufactures 800X and AA9 (I am just starting to figure out who makes what in the powder world and have been using longshot because of working on 45-08 loads from Gunnar). I might start to carry a G20 or a G29 for wilderness protection and want to work up a reliable hot load but the powder is a good place to start.
