Swiss Arms CQB + Aimpoint T-1 Micro = Perfection?

Well, after humming and hawing over which optic to put on my CQB, I finally decided on the T-1 Micro. It's a pricey little unit, but VERY compact, and much nicer than I had anticipated! I figure a high quality Euro-gun deserves some high quality Euro-optics. :D

I was a little leary of the 4 MOA dot, but it's very small on the low settings. I'd bet it's closer to 3 MOA. I liked the 1 MOA dot on the EOTech, but this won't be a long range precision firearm anyway. ;)

Either way, the view is a little cluttered, but I can get a lower 1/3 co-witness with the irons. The EOTech it was wearing previously obviously negated use of irons, and warranted more of a chin weld than cheek weld.

All in all, very pleased. Now I just need to shoot it with the T-1 installed! These pictures were taken just before I snapped the mounting bolt with my ham fisted strength.... when the instructions say '1/4 - 1/2 turn after feeling slight resistance', they mean it. Not a millimeter more than 1/2 turn, otherwise SNAP. The bolt sheared/twisted right off where the threads started.

Not too bummed though, as I'm planning on putting a quick release lever on it. Bought one at TSE today, but it was broken in the bag (didn't realize it til I got home)... James is taking care of that little issue. :)

Anyone else running a T-1/H-1 on a CQB? Any issues? Also tried the Larue Lt660 mount that I bought it with on my AR... again, really nice, but I think I'm sticking with my ACOG. Or maybe I'll sell it and buy another T-1...

What is the rail you are using? I thought there was a really low rail (Kyle's?) that gave you more then 1/3 co-witness of the iron sights?

He's running a Kyle rail. Side locking screws and once piece construction is the give away.

That and I can recognize my creations anywhere. ;)

Indeed it IS a KPA rail... nice piece of kit!

In all honesty, I wouldn't want it to be any lower with the T-1... the lower 1/3 cowitness is my preference.

Oh, Rivet - why would I want one that take AR mags? The swiss mags and feeding are FAR superior. Twice the price, yes, but more than twice as good. Sure 10 rounders would be nice, but I can deal with it.
 
That is very neat looking, might have to get my dad to buy one for his. is the kyle rail the lowest one out there?

Any troubles with the front sight?

In what sense? As in obstructing the view?

It's a little 'in the way', but not too bad. There are really only two options - get a high optic that needs chin-weld, or get a low one that has cheek weld, but a bit cluttered view. It's not bad though - when shooting with both eyes open it shouldn't really be an issue.

I'd rather have cheekweld and a slightly obstructed view. :D
 
The Micro dots are sure nice.I have a T-1 and a H-1 and i am curently saving up for another H-1 to go on my BT TP9.:dancingbanana:
 
Nicely done! Does the red dot appear inside the front sight ring? - I have read that a Micro with Larue 660HK medium height mount works pretty well, however I am not sure you get a lower 1/3 co-witness. Does anybody have this particular setup?
 
You definately WON'T get any co-witness if the sight is any higher. Even with no riser, if you put it all the way at the front of the rail, the bottom of the rear sight picture is getting blocked by the housing of the Aimpoint.

With a 'comfy' (for me) cheekweld, the dot is sitting right on the top of the front sight hood. With both eyes open (in my basement, at least. ;)) I don't really notice the cluttered view.

I think he's referring to the SIG556, the bastard-child of a Swiss father and American mother.

Seems like a pretty good way to negate the high reliability factor of a fine rifle to me.

I'd rather have an AR than this thing, I could be missing something...

Why would no one want it? Having the ability to use the widely available AR magazines would be nice. Last I heard the Swiss mags were hard to come by... I don't like plastic magazines anyway.
 
You guys ever shot the Sig Sauer 556? I have on Semi and Auto. Worked great, very reliable.

I agree that the Swiss Arms guns are better and higher quality and I love mine. The Sig Sauer 556 is a great gun though. I think those that are beating up on them have probably never shot one.

Not as good as the Swiss Arms guns but outstanding guns all their own. I'd take one, and you could use AR 10 round mags.

Admittedly no, that's why I said I might be missing something.

I don't mean to beat up on it, just questioning the desirability of swapping a solid feeding system with a potentially spotty one.

It is valuable to hear your first-hand assessment, means much more than surface opinions (like mine).
