So here is my Baby! My first black rifle, definitely not the last. I bought this rifle off the EE in February; I might add I made a killer deal on it. Rifle arrived like new.

Rifle
Very solid, no movement, I love it! Just like everyone said I would.

Magwell/Magazines
Original Magwell with 5 rounds mags are great, no problems, always drop free.
AR15 Magwell adapter wasn't what I expected. I bought mine from Wolverine Supplies. It was made of aluminum, and just didn't fit the rifle properly. It was too wide, so I could feel the edges of the magwell. I didn't like it, sent it back for a full refund.
Currently looking for G36 Mags, but when I see them for $150 plus shipping I laugh. If that's the going rate, then maybe I'll never own a G36 Mag.

Optics
I had a hard time picking out the optics, I don’t think I made the best choice, but once again, I got a great deal off the EE. I mounted a Bushnell Legend 5-15 x 40mm. I also have the -5 Long Rail with open sights, no complaints.

Bi-Pod / Vertical Grip
I didn’t like the HK factory Bi-pod, or the price of it, so I purchased the FAB T-Pod off eBay. Its a little big, and a little heavy, but I'm pretty happy with it. With one press of a button I can slide it forward on the rail, and use it as a bi-pod, or slide it back and use it as a vertical grip. I was interested in the GPS02 Grip Pod, but decided on this one instead. Maybe I'll get the other one when I get an AR15.

Rails
Bought the accessory rails from Dlask Arms. There was a few mix ups, but they corrected all the mistakes, they resent the correct rails before I even returned the wrong ones. Then even custom machined the bottom rail to my request. Great Service, Extremely happy with Dlask. If you do purchase rails, make sure to give them the bolt patterns.

Butt stock Conversion
I like the folding stock, and I also wouldn't mind the HERA AR15 conversion, but not for $700.00. Maybe in the future.

Pictures!

Range Reports

I read a lot about the 1:7 twist liking the heavy bullets, so I ordered 75gr Hornady HPBT Match ammo. While that was being shipped, I purchased 55 grain White box from a buddy. They were all over the page. I had no idea how to adjust my optics because there was no trend or pattern. I shot about 100 rounds like that, just learning the trigger and collecting the brass. Next I bought 1000 Rounds from Mystic off of the EE of PRVI 75 Grain HPBT

Best grouping with 5 Rounds at 100 Yards: 0.67"
Goal grouping with 5 Rounds at 100 Yards: 0.50"

Report from May 24th 2009
50 Rounds of Hornady 75 Grain Hollow Point Boat Tail, sitting on 24.3 grains of BL-C(2) set at 2.25"

Report from August 1st 2009
50 Rounds of PRVI 75 Grain Hollow Point Boat Tail, sitting on 24.3 grains of BL-C(2) set at 2.25".

The results aren't really clear cut if they are better or not then the Hornady I used last time.
My best is now 0.67" at 100 yards, with the Hornady I was only able to get 0.767". That could be due to the ammo, or more practice.
I also had tighter groupings then last time.
But on the other hand, I had a monster grouping of 2.18". Then another similar group of 1.92"
Compare for yourself. Page 1 has the first results with Hornady's

G36 Magazines
Currently looking for those, but when I see them for $150 plus shipping I laugh. They are for sale in the states for 39.99USD, but as everyone knows, we cant export them from the US without a permit. I'll work on this.
where did you find someone with G36 mags for sale?? I cant even find anyone willing to part with them, so price is a moot point.

Sorry for the hijack, Nice Rifle

Great setup! Glad to hear you were able to achieve respectable accuracy with your new rifle.

How much are they going for these days?

I've never looked at them seriously but your report and photos have caught my eye ;).

Cheers

I believe they sell for 2299.99 new from Wolverine, I think I saw a few new ones for 2149.99 somewhere on the EE. I normally buy all my guns new, but I decided to get this one used, Not because I cant afford a new one, but because I was able to find a great deal on one. I got it for $1600.00, owner claims he put 200 rounds through it, but he could have sold it as new because it was MINT.

Great, thanks - that retail seems reasonable, your price was a steal!

I agree with Onagoth, that is nicely done. Sometimes the whole is better than the sum of the parts, you nailed it for sure.

Who cares about the scope, it is quality glass with a functional reticle, don't second guess yourself.

Cheers!

I think it looks pretty good so far, it would look much better with G36 mags and a nice muzzle break.

I want to get this one.....

But its so freaken expensive. Im sure i'll buy it sooner or later, I need my bank to recover first. Ive been spending money as if I have a money tree in my back yard.

Nice set-up. You were being mentioned when I was at Crumlin last weekend. I have an SL8 too and am all over the paper with the 55-grain rounds. I think I will have to hunt some match grade 69-grain rounds.
Maybe we could meet up at Crumlin one day and compare notes!

I'd try something a little slower than BL-C2 with the heavier bullets. Also, if you are looking for match quality and velocity consistancies out of ball powders, it is best to trickle them, as the spread can get quite wide.
It is also my experience that the Sierra's do a little better than the Hornady's at mag length. (maybe handling the jump a little better?)

I'll be getting some Varget as soon as the local gun store has some. They have a handfull of powders left, so I just bought anything that would work. Thanks for the tips though.

enfield71 - Sounds good. I dont have any bullets left for my SL8 right now. But as soon as I get some in I wouldnt mind going to the range together.

Where do they sell this? my SL8 will hopefully arrive next Friday!

As for the brake, Roedale Precision (Google them for their web site) sells a very, very similar brake, also out of Germany, I ordered one a few weeks back, and received it a few days ago, very nice and heavy brake. The make models for a few different rifles, both clamp-on style and threaded barrel style.
