Don't forget that IPSC and PPc also count for Action Pistol.![]()
How can I forget when I never knew.
Heck I have never even heard of an action pistol match being held in Canada.
It would be the way to go if you only wanted to shoot *DPAI recently did the IDPA holster course, it was significantly cheaper than the BB

I prefer IPSC which is why I prefer the BB course and think that it is great value for the money.
but as I am a budding instructor I am biased.
To be fair, I think the IPSC course shoots much more rounds and lasts way longer as well, justifying the higher cost.
I will probably end up getting into IPSC one day anways, and thus will be required to do the BBD'oh!
The cost of a BB course also includes your first years membership to IPSC Ontario...
Really? I thought you had to be a member $70, and then do the blackbadge $100 or something like that.
"Holster Certification" is a uniquely Canadian thing...
When I started shooting in the USA I asked about what Holster Cert. was acceptable...
"You have a holster?"
"Yup"
"Then you're certified. This here's America boy... We're born holster certified..."
The IPSC BB course isn't just about safe holster use. Any idiot can be taught that in ten minutes. The BB course is also about teaching the game of IPSC to new participants.
'Neccessary in that IPSC is probably the most rule laden shooting sport known to man.
Your American friend stretchs the truth a lot. I can think of several clubs USPSA/IDPA who now either offer or insist that new shooters take some type of instructional course
More like not allowed to shoot IPSC. Those who are DPA certified, may not compete effectively in an IPSC environment, but they should be equal in safety. The basic premises of "holster usage" is the same, and both have pretty much the same core rules.IPSC course would be the best to take. You can shoot IPSC and IDPA. If you are only IDPA certified,..you will not likely be able to shoot IPSC.

#2 See rule #1
Everything else after that is specific to the game. Classes/equipment/rules/scoring/etc...
More self-serving on your part than hypocritical on ours. It's your choice to accept IPSC certified individuals; you don't have to.+1, it is a little hypocritical to allow IPSC into Defensive Pistol but not visa versa

+1, it is a little hypocritical to allow IPSC into Defensive Pistol but not visa versa but it has always been this way and I am sure it will stay this way.
