Questions about SIG 556 or Swiss Arms rifles

It's actually a 2-piece cover, you can flip the lens cap up by itself or both the lens cap and ARD, better than using your thumbnail to screw it out as on standard models.

the original 540 magazines were metal, but dont fit into the classic green receivers. Perhaps with a little help can they be made to fit, but you would have to try and find some first.

the swiss arms polymer magazines are very sturdy, i would not worry about breaking one.
 
Total gun-noob here so please forgive if I'm way off:

Could a guy buy different uppers for his Classic Green so as to switch between standard and say carbine/CQB?

In this case, would the kind of upper you had installed at any given moment determine it's Restricted/Non-Restricted status?

Completely in love with the Classic Green, btw. I'm new to shooting but I'm now thinking I'm going to skip the AR-108B/Norc M14 and go straight from my Ruger 10/22 noob-plinker to a SAN.

And for my final question: What's the deal with nose-heaviness on these guns? It's about the only "con" I've read about so far.

Good choice. Don't bother with anything else. Anything but a SAN gun is just a distraction. You can swap the uppers out but they not available through retail like AR-15 uppers, and the prices are silly if you find them second-hand. The upper is the actual firearm so the classification doesn't change unless you rebarrel the gun.

And finally they aren't heavy, they're just heavier than the AR-15.
 
Question for the SIG SG 550 folks:

What's your opinion of the stock tripod?

Although I dare not speak ill of the 550, I gotta say it looks kind of... well... feeble? How does it hold up when deployed at the range or in the field?

Also, it looks like they might make it a little difficult to get a good grip around the forward hand grip?

Just wondering...

:D ...as for the HK G3...after handling/shooting any Swiss 55X/PE-90 or Classic Green/Black Special/Blue Star/Red Devil/Heavy Metal, Carbine or CQB Classic Green you'll change your mind! Better built rifles, feel more substantial in the hand and shoot better than the HK! This from a reformed HK junkie.:D;)

I'll not take your word for it. I may just have to sell a few things off to get a PE-90 myself.
