The "FNP-45" costs over $300 more than the Glock 21SF. Add more for 1 or 2 magazines. Striker fired vs hammer fired? Traditional safety vs Glock safety? DA/SA FNP vs DAO Glock? Glock has a lot more accessories & parts (available & in Canada). Both are great: the FN is as close to a real 1911 as a polymer framed, mass-produced pistol can get as far as I've seen (my opinion only) but that is all you can say as a real 1911 like a Springfield TRP is an entirely different, all steel firearm.
I would look at (all double stacked):
Polymer
Glock 21SF $715+
HK 45 $1000+
M&P 45 $650+
FNP-45 $1000+
Springfield XD45 $700+
Single Stack 1911
Springfield TRP (.45) $1200+ (AFAIK)
Springfield Operator $1200+ (AFAIK)
I would try to choose 2 so you won't be disappointed.
After looking at all seven, I would choose a Glock 21SF. It's simple, reliable, cheaper, as accurate as any of the above and recoil is entirely manageable, even for a new shooter. No problem learning on the Glock 21SF if that is an issue. .45 is more expensive. If you are looking at a 9mm, get a 17. I'll go get the kool-aid now.
