Glock 21 vs FNH-45

Well, if you want an FNP 45, you better order one soon. There were only 6 brought in and apparently there are only 2 left. These as I understand it are the only 6 that will be in the country for awhile.

That being said, I like the Glock 21, I've owned 2 of them, but I sold one to buy the FNP and I can't wait.

It's such a good looking little gun.

Have you considered the M&P 45, also a polymer framed 45, a little easier to handle than a Glock 45 (even the SF) and cheaper than the FN. Accurate and handloader friendly (you will be reloading, right?)

The "FNP-45" costs over $300 more than the Glock 21SF. Add more for 1 or 2 magazines. Striker fired vs hammer fired? Traditional safety vs Glock safety? DA/SA FNP vs DAO Glock? Glock has a lot more accessories & parts (available & in Canada). Both are great: the FN is as close to a real 1911 as a polymer framed, mass-produced pistol can get as far as I've seen (my opinion only) but that is all you can say as a real 1911 like a Springfield TRP is an entirely different, all steel firearm.

I would look at (all double stacked):

Polymer

Glock 21SF $715+
HK 45 $1000+
M&P 45 $650+
FNP-45 $1000+
Springfield XD45 $700+

Single Stack 1911

Springfield TRP (.45) $1200+ (AFAIK)
Springfield Operator $1200+ (AFAIK)

I would try to choose 2 so you won't be disappointed. :)

After looking at all seven, I would choose a Glock 21SF. It's simple, reliable, cheaper, as accurate as any of the above and recoil is entirely manageable, even for a new shooter. No problem learning on the Glock 21SF if that is an issue. .45 is more expensive. If you are looking at a 9mm, get a 17. I'll go get the kool-aid now.

That's the best information I've seen posted here in awhile. :)

Probably not in 45acp.

I handled both the G21SF and the FN45 at the SHOT SHOW this year. I am mightily impressed by the FNP guns. That being said, I would probably choose the Glock over the FNP in 45acp only.
The G21 is a very much more versatile platform: almost any part can be replaced easily. Trigger lightening is easy, barrel replacement is a snap, and the very nice people at Lone Wolf make replacement slides and conventional barrels for the complete Glock line including the G21 and G21SF.
However, the FNP in 9mm has a very sweet trigger, terrific grip profile and felt better in the hand than most of the other similar 9mm's I tried at the S/S. I would take the FNP 9mm over the Springfield XM, any Sig you care to mention, the truly fine S&W M&P, any H&K 9mm, and even the STI Grand Power knock-off....
