Interesting news RE: Kahr barrels

You forgot Colt, S&W, Ruger, Dan Wesson, Taurus, Browning...

I don't think it's so much that people are against a new gun in Canada, it's more like they're not particularly interested in THIS gun. I don't see how a relative lack of selection is a good enough reason, in and of itself, to want to buy a Kahr.

Agreed, particularly if the price was to high.

I mean, whatever. This is something I just thought I'd look into and throw out there to see if there was any interest, which there obviously isn't.

If it doesn't happen, it doesn't happen. And that's fine by me.

However, there are a TON of handguns that we can't get here due to barrel length restrictions and I'd love to see some of these compact an sub compact models eventually make their way across the border.

Hell, there's guns out there like the Sig 250 that are legal here in their full size version and I still haven't seen any here, other then the few that Questar brought in.

No. The question is not why I want one, but why you don't want one. The last time I checked, Canada had a really piss poor selection of handguns to pick from, compared to the US.
I don't want one because it's a POS that I have no use for. After all the expenses necessary to make it Canada-legal and bring it here, it will also be an expensive POS.

I think you are a little confused. No one here is opposed to new pistols being made available for sale in Canada. Quite the opposite, in fact. If some dealer wants to buy 50 Kahrs and convert them to Canadian specs, I doubt anyone would have a problem with that. But there is simply no market for a $1000 Kahr. Otherwise, someone like Questar would have imported them already.

You seem to have quite intimate knowledge of Kahr products and how well they perform. Are you a Kahr technician?

If you don't want one, that's fantastic. It's called "voting with your dollar".

No I am not a "Kahr technician". But unlike you, I actually have hands on experience with them (shot one in the states).

I only stated my opinion about Kahr products because you asked me why I didn't want a Kahr. Next time, don't ask a question if you don't want to hear the answer.

I shot one in the states, too. At a dealer in Detroit while I had a few hours to kill. I found it very comfortable to shoot and very accurate in spite of its small size.

I would have been very interested in buying one until recently; just got rid of most of my guns. (Live in an unsafe area.)

I have read that the gun was designed by Kook Jin "Justin" Nim Moon who is a son of Sun Myung Moon, founder of the Unification church (members sometimes referred to as "Moonies").

It's true. Not only are they kooks but they named the company Kahr because it "sounded German". I kid you not.

Thanks for the legwork targettarget. I have no interest in a $1000 Kahr but maybe something along the lines of a restricted S&W 5906 or 910 would be interesting. I agree that there is a relatively narrow spectrum of pistols available in Canada and it's a small market to cater custom products to.
