
Doesn't a cartridge that large contradict the "assault rifle" definition?
It's a nifty design, but I've always thought we needed an assault/battle rifle using a .50 variant round. Like a 12.7x55mm. Now that would be a badass rifle. Only way I could think of that working super awesome (to put it technically), would be if it had an action similar to the AA12. Booyah!

Isn't the .50 Beowulf based on the .50 AE except it has a longer case? I can't seem to remember.
It's more akin to the .500 S&W.
