I believe the Japanese Navy had ownership of that title, with the 18 inch naval rifles (yes they were refered to as rifles) on the battleship Yamamoto. You would certainly be "assaulted" if you were hit by one of those shells. ;-)

I wasn't thinking as a service rifle, but the way it takes out the drums, it would be perfect for hunting deer... killed AND gutted in one step.

I think it would do nicely stopping Somali pirate boats from getting too close, or perhaps taking pot shots at technicals.

It fills a niche, but would it be worth walking around with "just in case", more like something to stash in a vehicle. Does look like fun though. I think the NTW20 is a much more useful system, 50BMG is for puss*es!

It's a nifty design, but I've always thought we needed an assault/battle rifle using a .50 variant round. Like a 12.7x55mm. Now that would be a badass rifle. Only way I could think of that working super awesome (to put it technically), would be if it had an action similar to the AA12. Booyah!
